Hi CorsaUMM. Sorry to hear it's not going well. Have you been to see dietician/nutritionist to check for secondary food intolerances/allergies? I'm in similar scenario and starting to look like sulphites are having coeliac-like symptoms. Dairy had impact on many with coeliac. Alternatively, hidden gluten in your food from additives that are wheat derived but not declared? Are you using products labeled as GF?
Hi Mise, Not always GF labels but examine ingredients quite diligently.. When I see dietician I am going to ask about dairy . Thanks for your feedback Sulphites interesting !!!Perhaps I should be looking at labels more, if it says no wheat or grains etc, I usually take it as read.
You have certainly made me rethink dietary requirements , again many thanks

Hi. As others on the coeliac forum will point out - cross contamination is a major problem. I still get massively caught out by this - most recently I've had some major challenges with nuts being a problem. If no gluten ingredients, you still run the risk of the product being cross-contaminated in the factory from other sources of gluten. It is a mine field. Some on the forum have suggested that they simply avoid anything from a packet/tin, and I'm coming around to that way of thinking as well. But yes, get checked out for the other secondary good allergies as well, and have a look into the cross contamination issues. Good luck : )
Thanks good to hear from you again . I can’t have soya because after having BC th oncologist told me to avoid it due to producing oestrogen . I will have to be more vigilant although it’s a ruddy
nightmare as you well known.
Hi corsaUMM
Apart from dairy, which is a very common problem for many coeliacs, soya can also be a problem.
Try keeping a food diary to see if you can pinpoint suspect foods. The additives in ready-made gf foods can also cause stomach problems. Best to cook from scratch whoever possible.
Good luck with the dietician. If all else fails you could have a look at an exclusion diet, such as the Autoimmune Protocol.
This is bit basic but are you opening your bowels regularly? I had to eat a glutened diet recently (after 30 years off wheat and the last 10 off barley and rye) and was immediately sore and bloated with being bound up, which also kept me awake all night. Normally I eat 2 raw prunes some time in the evening but I increased this to 8 and gradually things started moving. Taking them at breakfast helps but not so much. Once the routine settles down I find that If e.g. I eat them at 9 in the evening I "go" at 9 in the morning and so on. Quite useful for forward planing!. Watch for contamination ingredients on the packet.
There's apparently a number of intolerances and disorders that is seen in patients with coeliac disease.
The cause is mostly believed to be damaged guts, hence the production of enzymes ar deficent or messed up uptake anyway.
Most of them can be secondary and acquired, or hen and egg mystery.
A few examples:
×Lactose intolerance
×Fructose and/or sorbitol malabsorbation
×exocrine pancreatic insufficiency (EPI, difficulty digesting fat and carbs)
×Diamine oxidase deficiency (biogenic amines, like histamine spermine etc in other words proteins) causes histamine intolerance.
×mast cell activation disorder (histamine intolerance)
Some can't eat oat, and others can't eat corn. Both have a kind of distant cousin to gluten. But it seems to be fairly common with other food intolerances together with coeliac.
