Hubby had a M & S gluten free ready meal last night . This morning he has had a really upset stomach, first time since being diagnosed last year. I have checked the ingredients and it should have been ok.

Bad luck with the food!

If it was a gluten free meal, perhaps the problem was caused by some other ingredients? I can’t stomach the additives that are often put into gf foods. Emulsifiers, xanthan or guar gum and cellulose all cause me problems.

It might be worth letting M&S know in case there has been some cross contamination at the food factory. You will need the best before date, batch number and name of the ready meal.

Sorry to hear this. It's particularly upsetting when you can't identify what caused the problem. Did he eat anything else? What about dessert or snack? Could it be a tummy bug and not related to food at all? Hope it doesnt recur.

Hi, we have been so careful following gluten free diet. Hubby was kept in isolation for 3 weeks before being diagnosed CD, his BP 60/30, told he was lucky not to have cardiac arrest. We read everything on packaging and can only put it down to something in the ready meal. He is recovered now, thank you for asking, we are back to all fresh ingredients now as convenience food not worth the risk.
