I have been prescribed folic acid for low folate levels. Have been taking them for 3 weeks. The numbness, nausea and palpitations have all stopped however I am still so tired and dizzy. Anyone know how long it will take to feel back to normal?

If your Folate was low then it is possible your B12 will be low too - they work together in the body. Taking Folate can mask B12 deficiency so B12 should be taken for two days before introducing Folate. Do test first ... Always obtain copies of your results so you can monitor your progress and check what has been missed. B12 needs to be around 500 ...

My b12 was 238 so I'm guessing that is pretty low... The Dr didn't seem too bothered by that - he said no action required. I suppose I need to go back and ask for b12. I have been taking a multivitamin, would that help at all? I have had a gastroscopy to see if there's a reason for malabsorption. Having to wait a month for the clinic though! In the mean time I'm too tired and dizzy to work or do anything with my children!
