Hi can anyone help I’ve been GF now for 2yr + . I have recently visited the GP feeling very lethargic aching muscles, leg cramps , painful joints and bones and more recent trembles through my hands. Generally feeling unwell . I have had blood tests and it’s been revealed that my folate levels are low so I’m back on folic acid 5 mg. I’m not convinced that this is just folate deficiency? Neither is GP . I’ve been for more bloods today for further tests but not sure what they testing for GP said when you have one autoimmune disease your chances of having another are increased. Feel shocking so exhausted by it all I’m 52 working full time in a energetic job my body feels 82 . Anyone any ideas why I feel so shocking ?

Low folate levels
Hi there dawn you should ask gp what are the tests? I would think your gp is also testing for iron def, vit d, b12. I was diagnosed with celiac last year and also thyroid disease, after that came 2other immune diseases graves and hashimotos, I have also got iron def anemia which I'm trying to raise but failing miserably, I have been referred now, all these diseases can make you very I'll, I was extremely hyper thyroid last year, trembling, heart palps, body jolting, anxiety and panic attacks but also iron def gives you similar symptoms you are experiencing, muscles aches, exhaustion, breathless, shaking, is he testing you for full thyroid function as well? I currently still off work a year later as its been such a rollercoaster of diseases and being anaemic and feeling so poorly.
Could you not get your gp to sign you off work, do your workplace pay SSP? Folate def can cause those symptoms too but usually if your folate is low so is your ferritin, ferritin should be 70 or above , do not settle for anything less. Hope you get this sorted🌟
Thanks for your reply . Sounds like your going through it too. I will await blood test results just know there’s something not right
