A bit concerned.

Hi guys, on January I'm going for an Asian trip, going to visit Philippines and Thailand for a 5 weeks traveling, holiday. I'm bit aware what food can I eat. Is it safe to eat traditional, local food without contamination of gluten and dairy? and if not what can I do to prevent please? Thanks in advance.

Here’s a link I found

Thailand doesn’t seem to be so easy, apparently sit down eateries are helpful if they understand English well but avoid street food

Hope you enjoy your trip

I will take a look into it. Yup Thailand isn't easy as that to understand English well so it will be a bit difficult to understand well food without gluten and dairy hehe.

Download the app “Find me gluten free” it’s great for travel plus you can order language cards online that describe your condition which you can use in foreign restaurants!

Wow, great I will take a look into it.

The food will be good ! Fish is the best & fresh green veg

In fact I do like fish and green veg :) and they do it great, already experienced that but I wasn't intolerant for any food.

I do a lot of travel and being GF can be tricky anywhere. So I use blogs for food ideas. There are many bloggers who have been to the places you are going and give names of restaurants or meals they had. Google- name of town/ area with the word blog.

One thing you need to be aware of is that soy sauce and many sauces do have gluten in them. Another thing is snacks. I always take some GF snack bars or plain biscuits to tide me over until I can find things there. If arriving late take a GF noodle cup so you can make it in your hotel and not bother with going out late when you are tired.

Another thing is the number one rule for travel in any Asian country is do not eat RAW foods or salads or any cut fruit. Eat only cooked vegies and buy your own fruit. Take a fruit knife in you baggage to cut up your own pineapple or whatever. Also no water or ice. People in my tour groups often scoff at my suggestion- and it is them who end up sick!
