I've made soup a handful of times over the years with a pan on the hob and then blitzing with a stick blender. Results were ok, a bit hit and miss, but I can't say I enjoyed the process enough to do it regularly. Jumping forward I found we were spending a fair bit on fresh supermarket soup which my husband tends to have everyday for lunch.
I did some research on soup makers and then a friend rang out of the blue and started to tell me about her new gadget and how great it was. Soup in 20mins, easy process. I was convinced and bought one which offers smooth or chunky soup settings and smoother maker option.
It's fab. A quick peel and chop of veg, addition of stock and some extras e.g. garlic, chilli, ginger, lid on and 20mins later fab tasty soup. The SM cooks the veg then blitzes for a smooth soup. You can also have a clear soup with chunky veg. Easy to clean as well. Now I'm no longer ditching veg that have gone over - they are chopped and turned into soup. The SM makes large quantities but surplus is easily portioned and frozen.
