I am now coming up to aged 69, during that time I have had Coeliac Disease, then I didn’t have it, then I did. An ingredient in gf food makes me ill, never mind stick to your gf diet and you will be fine ( professor) I have had Pleural Thickening, no I don’t I have pleural plaques. In reality it’s effects from exposure to diesel fumes. I have Left Ventricular Failure, no I dont. I have grovers disease, no I do not it’s a reaction to formaldehyde/ formaldehyde releasers in coloured paint, cosmetics/ body care products. I get Anaphylaxis, no you do not your tryptase test is below expected levels, yes but those who drink alcohol produce lower readings.
When I am ill I want to know why so I know what to avoid.

Hi pretender, its very difficult when we have added issues and many coeliac seem to have secondary conditions.
Now a formaldehyde allergy, I thought could be triggered by chemicals in laying vinyl flooring and in new carpet and underlays etc, so maybe some of your symptoms especially if they are like a DH rash could be coming from environmental issues.
I know that you like me also have issues with allowed levels of gluten and my gastro told me that fortunately lots of his coeliac patients stopped eating codex wheat in their first year of diagnosis and that the FODMAP diet was becoming increasingly popular and effective. So I find my gastro helpful and encouraging.
So do you keep a food diary because that might help and help with the source and it might help show if it is from environmental issues.
Hi Jerry, my formaldehyde allergy was tested at St Thomas’ in June 2013. It is also well documented in tribunal documents however a tribunal doctor can comment on any health condition even if they are Orthopaedic Surgeons. Environment, foods, medications, cosmetics etc the list is not endless but it is not an understood condition. January 2011 I tried the fodmap diet and it was not for me, so now with my new partner it is fresh ingredients with very few processed foods, all ingredients are checked for origin, if I am glutened we find the answer very quickly. So no food diary needed, shiitake mushrooms contain so much Formaldehyde they are well avoided.
As for my Pleural Thickening the consultant who reviewed my medical history saying I had it is now after ten years saying it has improved which is not possible, nothing about the calcified nodule on my lung either...surprising what people say for money, this one was private.
Trouble is it happened in 1981 and is the result of inhaling Deisel Exhaust Emissions while working on the cross channel ferries. HSE has only over the last few years brought about rules about it.
