Biopsy results

Hi, does anybody know how long it takes to get your biopsy results back and if you can phone the hospital to ask for them? I finally had my gastroscopy done just over a week ago under general anaesthetic x

they should have known straight away, I would call the doctor at the hospital, we were told before being discharged

So, the biopsies were sent away and are still with the histology department at another hospital. Apparently this can take up to six weeks and there is nothing to be seen on my notes as to what was seen on the camera. I'm beginning to regret wanting answers now haha

It's a year or so ago but sure mine was 5 or 6 weeks. They said just after the exam at the hospital that "all looked fine" so I stopped thinking about it. Was diagnosed with coeliac with subtotal atrophy. Good luck

Thank you, I guess I'll just have to have a little more patience for possibly another four and a half weeks 😕

I'm still waiting to hear about my results (6wks on Tuesday).

I was just wondering, did you get your results in a letter or did you have to go back to see the consultant?

Hi Louise. I got a call from gp receptionist "you've got coeliac disease. Stop eating gluten"...

Then I think a follow up letter a week or so later. Sorry memory a bit hazy. I would definitely ring your consultants secretary (a quick Google should unearth them) and ask when to expect your results. Good luck. X
