Sorry to hear of your suffering Rose. I used to have lots of pain and diarrhoea but since being diagnosed Coeliac and giving up gluten I am so much better. I hope you feel better soon. Diane x

What kind of testing is involved?? I've spoke to Drs about IBS which has been suspected for years. I explained that a pharmacist discussed with me that he thinks I should be investigated for inflammatory bowel disease, I told Drs this and I feel they didn't take me seriously at all.. what kind of testing do I need??

I have lots of bloating, I wake up in the morning 5 inches slimmer than what I went to bed!!

Irregular toilet habits lots of loose stool,

Gassy etc the list goes on..

Thank you..

Hi Rozieb. I'm sure there is a lot of overlap sometimes. I had bad IBS symptoms that gradually got worse. I was tested for CD but blood test came back negative. I took a more unconventional route and had IGg food intolerance testing (unconventional since there's debate about whether it's a valid test - but to me it's still an immune response and made a lot of sense). It came back that I had multiple intolerances (egg, milk, wheat, gluten, millet, yeast, crustaceans and coffee - plus another 7 borderline items)! Everything made sense (I'd suspected some of these items were the culprits but could never pin them down. Since I cut them out and started clean eating I feel so much better it's unreal. It only took 3 days for my bloating, joint pain and body aches to disappear. After three weeks the constipation, diarhoea, nausea and sickness subsided. I have the odd relapse (probably caused by eating something I shouldn't) but generally have been much better. Maybe something else to consider if you don't get answers via your GP?

I was treated for IBS for years. Doctor wouldn't have it and I kept taking the pills. 18 yrs I took pills for it. I was so ill in the end I insisted there was something else wrong. I asked for the test for Coeliac, they still were not keen but got tested and diagnosed. Good luck Rozieb.
