Can anyone tell me what high IgA levels as part of a CD test might signify please?

No worries Jo. Didn't know you were a gluten free guerilla too. I can find plenty of info relating to Coeliacs and low IgA but none relating to a raised one. X

Don't know love sorry. Was your Ttg raised?

The results aren't back yet Kiki - but I spoke to a dietician yesterday at Coeliac UK and she helped me to plan how long to stay on gluten for, as the bad taste, severe bloating, sharp pains around my body and flu-like feeling are all really getting to me now.

I  was asking because my rheumatologist had all my immunoglobulins taken in September and this IgA was raised. It was also raised last time I had the Ttg done three years ago. But I think it's a low IgA that is associated with CD. I'm not expecting a positive result.

The dietician suggested I keep eating gluten until I learn whether my gastroenterology referral is going to take place as urgent (as GP would like) or routine. If urgent then I should stay on gluten and request an endoscopy with biopsy through gastrology as it will be within a month. If non urgent then I will have to wait 7 months - in which case stop gluten now and start eating it again six weeks prior to my appointment. X

I was under the impression that the IgA is the antibodies that fight your own bodie in response to ingesting gluten so it indicates you have ingested gluten

Thanks. So if it's raised above normal range does it support the idea that I'm gluten intollerant do you think?
