Not quite sure what you're asking but will assume you're thinking you may have gluten sensitivity or coeliac disease. So your best intolerance test would be to eat gluten. In fact it is the procedure used prior to blood testing and gastroscopy. My symptoms were diarrhoea, weight loss, wasting, anaemia, acid reflux, gut inflammation, migraine and "wind". Friends said my breath stunk! For lactose intolerance you can have a simple hydrogen breath test.

Hi jacks

I had a blood test about 4 years ago whilst eating gluten came back negative so I presumed it was an intolerance. I got some intolerance testing & cut all the things it said I was intolerant to. My symptoms decreased but I still suffer. I recently took another test (hair sample) which came back with some of the same intolerances with a couple more & I wondered about the reliability of the tests. I also suffer from endometriosis so I'm not sure whether the symptoms are due to that. Thanks for your reply x

My symptoms were similar to Jacks apart from the weight loss, wasting and migraine, but I also got dreadful stomach cramps, ached all over, couldn't concentrate and was very lethargic. Once I stopped eating gluten I felt so much better but then discovered there were other dodgy things that made me ill too. Hope you sort things out because I remember feeling pretty miserable and worried. Good luck!

Hi urban girl

Thanks for your reply. I also have endometriosis so not sure if the symptoms are due to that. Trying to rule things out.

Btw what is wasting? X

I went to a Naturapathy 5 years ago and she did blood test and sent it away for testing. I have an intolerance for gluten, dairy, soy, peanut, banana, and yeast. My suggestion is to see a registered Naturapathy to get tested. I then made monthly appts with her for nutrition advice.

I can't advise you on testing, but I have had endometriosis. There does seem to be a link between endometriosis and problems with gluten. This is one science report which found that giving up gluten helped to alleviate the symptoms/pain.

You had endo? Sounds like past tense? Thanks will have a look at the link. Defo giving up gluten has helped I'm 7 weeks post 2nd lap x

Glad to hear that giving up gluten is helping you.

Yes, my endo is in the past tense. There seem to have been few treatments available when I was diagnosed some 30 years ago, it was fortunate that having a hysterectomy worked for me, although I am aware that it is not always a solution. There was enough of an ovary left to prevent an early menopause.

Good luck with sorting everything out.

I'm so pleased your endo is resolved. My friend had a hysterectomy in her early 30's over 20 years ago and she has never had an issue since. Since receiving my lap report it appears that not all the endo was removed so I'm left wondering if in fact all my symptoms are endo related or food. I will carry on with cutting the intolerant foods out. Thanks for your messages x

Reading your posts - I am wondering if you have had your thyroid tested ? More than just the TSH - which is a Pituitary hormone and tells you VERY little about how the thyroid is performing. Just a thought.

Thyroid hormones are required in every cell of the body - so when low things do go wrong.

Thank you for your message! I had my thyroid tested maybe 5 years ago, my doctor doesn't seem keen on testing so perhaps I will look to go for private testing. Thanks for the link will have a look x

Do you have copies of your test results ? They are yours to have as a legal right. The TSH needs to be 2.5 or under - the FT4 and the FT3 need to be in the upper quarter of the range. Docs rarely know this and say normal - when they mean in range ! Hope you managed to have a peep at the link :-)

How are your VitD levels ? Also B12 - Ferritin - folate - Iron. They need to be optimal for your body to work well :-)....and for the thyroid to work well too....
