belching all the time

Hi everyone

I would so much appreciate your opinion on this matter .I've been coeliac for 12 years now and according to my last blood test my coeliac is under control. The symptom that I still have since I've been diagnosed is belching all the time, every day, sometimes even every half an hour. I don't have to tell you how annoying and upsetting it is because my stomach hearts .What I've noticed over the years is the fact that, if I'm under stress is even worse but I've got also days when if for example I'm very busy I don't belch .Also, I've noticed that doesn't depends on the food because I will belch even if I haven't eat anything. For this, 2 years ago I've done an investigation with a video capsule to see if it's something wrong with my stomach but everything was okay. I was relieved and thought they will go away but unfortunately they didn't not. The doctors said that it is an IBS and to reduce the stress in my life.I'm thinking that maybe it's something wrong with my adrenal glands ( one of my unties has because of the stress) or level of cortisol. If this is a reaction to stress what should I looking for because it's not normal to react in this way isnt'it?

Thank you so much for your ideas guys.

Hi Mikeila,

Belching was/is one of my issues too, but I can pinpoint mine to eating sugar...anything sweet, but especially refined sugars, so that includes gluten-free bread and biscuits. In fact, I am healthiest on the Atkins diet. Not sure if this will help you, but I've noticed this in other people, too. We (the public) have been told this is all due to fat in the diet, but in fact, it is carbohydrates.

Perhaps it's a quantity issue?

Frequent burping

Burping — a releasing of swallowed air from the stomach through the mouth — really needs no explanation. But excessive belching could be a sign of acid reflux or stomach ulcers, Raj says. It's important to know because chronic acid exposure in your esophagus can cause pre-cancerous changes.

I would agree that its probably the Sugars but for me it is FATS eaten that do this to me.....

Hi Mikeila. Have you been tested for gallstones? Belching is a prime symptom of gallstones, particularly after eating, but when they get bad, even drinking water will do it! Gallstones also hate fatty food, so if you find you are belching after anything fried, buttered or so forth then maybe an ultrasound would be in order?

Thanks Chancery,

I know I have a lays gall but i don't have stones. I belch even if I didn't had anything all day.My endoscopy says my stomach is fine. My doctor said to learn how to manage stress better?

Well that's good news. I should imagine stress can upset your stomach badly. So can lots of foods. Maybe you should try an elimination diet in case something unexpected is causing irritation. I assume you don't do anything obvious, like drink fizzy drinks?

No coffee, alcohol ,smoking or fizzy drinks..:)

Well if it's not anything physical (according to the docs!) the only thing left to try is an old-fashioned elimination diet. Hope you find the root cause soon. Burping is a pain - literally. And unlike men, women are not expected to do it!

Hahaha..I lost my hope😊I've tried to find the cause for the last 12 years since I 've been diagnosed with coeliac.Since then I've got this belching as well😕In 12 years I had like 7 endoscopy, 1 colonoscopy and many other tests..but I'm stuck with it😕

Hi guys. Thanks all of you for your answers.I saw my consultant this morning and I've told him that I had enough with the belching. He said that it is anxiety and whatever underling problem I have I believe that I can release it by belching. The solution that he gave me?"Try not to belch when you feel like ".So what do you think about this explanation of making myself aware about this belching ?

I forgot to mention that if I'm busy doing something,or studying or whatever concentrating on something else I don't belch.

Hi guys, Any ideas anyone about the explanation and solution that my consultant gave me? I feel like if I'm not belching my stomach is going to burst..

Have you found an answer? I've been burping excessively for around 2 years now. Had a colonoscopy and an endoscopy, results are negative(including celiac) Currently gluten free for about a month. Thanks.

This is two years later and I just came upon this...didn't Mikeili know about celiac disease & gluten? I found out in '02..terrible news then but with knowing exactly what you're eating makes a lot easier. Gluten & wheat is not bad for everyone. Only those people diagnosed with "Celiac Disease"
