Most is not. Just read your Blog post though - there's a GF Soda bread recipe on the Doves Farm website that works quite well

Hi there. My daughter is gluten and yeast intolerant so I have to make my own GF soda bread as its very difficult to buy. I use Dive's brown bread flour, bicarb, salt, natural yoghurt, warm water and it comes out a treat. Trick is to keep mixture very very sloppy. Good luck

I agree with lady shelly. Why include yeast. As long as it is bakers yeast and is gluten free it should be ok. I will think that you can have a reaction to yeast but that's another issue. Might be wrong though.

I guess you can potentially have a reaction to anything

A friends son was initially thought to be coeliac - but having cut his diet back to the bone and following a GF diet, it seems that Yeast is the culprit not wheat / gluten - he's now following a yeast free diet and his symptoms appear to have gone

not much point in having yeast in a soda bread as the point of the soda in soda bread is to create bubbles of CO2 to make it rise (as yeast does in normal bread).

Yeast is a dodgy allergy as it can mean issues with alcohol, fruit, grapes, marmite, mushrooms.... nasty

Here is a great gluten free traditional soda bread recipe. I bake it in a frying pan in the oven.

My own flour blend is now 1 &1/3 cups quinoa flour, 1&1/3 cups sorghum flour and 1& 1/3 cups tapioca starch with 2 tsp xanthan gum as a binder. ( I don't eat wheats, rices or corns, so this makes a nice blend with lots of protien and fibre. The crumb is excellent. It can be eaten plain or toasted. It freezes well and makes great stuffing/ dressing for poultry or pork.) If you're going to use it to make bread pudding change the spices from savoury to sweet (cinnamon etc)

I've just been told to go on a gluten free diet and it's all overwhelming, not knowing what to eat, what breads are gluten free. Am interested in making my own. The soda sounds a good option, will try it any easy recipes for a novice?
