3 month check up

today I had my three month check up after my glaucoma surgery. The surgeon was happy that they have stopped the progression in my left eye. I still have to take drops in my right eye even though I only have hand movement( sight wise) .I still have to go every six months for the rest of my life as they need to keep an eye on my pressures but at least they have stopped my only seeing eye from getting worse. I asked if the operation had cured the glaucoma but he said that there is no cure. At least I can still do the things I like and carry on working.

Hello. I'm glad to hear that it has stabilised. He is right that there is no cure, but the surgery will help to control the eye pressure, which is what all glaucoma treatment involves. Take care.

Thankyou . I was worried as my sensitivity to car headlights has got a bit worse and I can only read to line 4 on the chart. I’ve had to have a drastic change to my prescription but with my glasses I can see okay and that is all that matters

that’s good to hear that they’ve stopped the progression

What surgery did you have?

I’ve had cataract and I stent and waiting for my 3 month appointment

I’m anxious to know if the stent surgery has worked

I had trab surgery where they opened a channel in my eye to let the fluid drain. It was six months and a big change in my prescription glasses which happened within two weeks between appointments which was a big shock. I’m now back to six month appointment and still use drops for my right eye.

That's good news. Regular check-up's also reassuring regarding your eye health.
