Simbrinza eye drops

I have been prescribed Simbrinza eye drops as a new method of treatment to bring my eye pressures down. My eye pressures are 23 and 20. These new drops are to be taken twice a day together with Bimatoprost once per day.

I have done some background reading on these new drops and the side effects were quite concerning.

Is there any one else that is taking these drops? and what have been your experiences please. Thanks a lot.

Hello I was prescribed Simbrinza eye drops a few years a ago unfortunately though they brought the pressure down the unfortunate side effect was that an hour or so after putting them in the eye they made me feel quite tired so I was glad when I was put on another type of eye drop.from your quoted pressure I would think you are on the borderline of being high it may be worth next time you see your consultant ask if you can be put on an alternative preservative free version which may help.

Hello. All eye drops contain side effects. To help reduce the risk of side effects, close your eyes and press gently on the tear-ducts for up to 2 minutes. This reduces the risk of the drops getting to the back of the throat and into the bloodstream, which can reduce side effects.

Not everyone experiences side effects. The only way to find out would be to try them, which I encourage you to do, to help reduce the eye pressure. However, if you experience any of the side effects, get onto the eye secretary so that they can make the consultant aware. They can then look into prescribing you an alternative drop.

hello Bill, I was put on Simbrinza eyedrops over 12 months ago and you are right that there is a fairly lengthy list of side-effects. However, as Trish says, that is not unusual with any medication. I did find initially that the drowsiness was significant, I found myself nodding off in the most peculiar situations, however, those initial side-effects have worn off, and I find that I am reasonably well able to tolerate them now. What I was told by my consultant is that these are one of the “last resort” drops (I have no more tension glaucoma and I need to get the eye pressures right down to avoid further damage) and that might be the case with you. It may be worth persevering with them for a little while longer to see how you get on with them. Good luck!
