nervous about my 4 week check-up after having four more sutures in my eye to combat the severe blurring caused by very low pressure ( 3/4). I have downloaded a n eye chart and been checking every morning, plus using a soothing eye drop. The specialist was delighted when I was able to read down to row six or seven after being unable to see the top row on the chart. I feel I now have closure on this journey and look forward to getting into my painting again. I don’t need a check up for two months. The red sunset tonight mirrored my joy. I’m going to paint that scene.
todays check-up: nervous about my 4 week check... - Glaucoma UK
todays check-up
Great news for you! I bet that your painting of the sunset will be very special.
That’s good news! I paint as well. It’s an absolute necessity for me. So I can so understand the anxiety you have had. Contemplating whether to have a trab in my other eye and it’s not an easy decision. Enjoy your sunset painting .
Always good to hear good news. I endured three months of poor vision after a trabeculectomy and you think it will never improve. Fortunately mine, like yours, did.
I'm so pleased to hear that your vision is now improving! What a process it has been for you! It's encouraging to hear that something can be done about low pressure. Mine has stabilised at 4 after trab last summer. It was 3/4 at last appointment. So far the low pressure has not affected my vision, fingers crossed! Just shows that we are all respond differently. Good luck with your progress!
Thank goodness, so happy to hear better news for you. I had a check up yesterday after the last discussion about having a shunt implant. Apparently I was booked in yesterday for lasering again but this was without my consent and so I did not have it done as drove myself in anyway. I have seen the deterioration of my eyes on doctors computer, graphs etc, it makes me feel very sad for the future. The new drops though have, it seems, made a difference at least on yesterdays check up where the pressures have again come down enough to show stability again! I will at the very least have another attempt at the laser treatment soon but it sounds as if the aqueous shunt implant could happen soon in the future.
I was so glad to have attended my appointment with everyone's little bits of info following your surgeries...he was a good listener and very understanding, explaining that this particular method has significantly better results than the trabeculectomy. So I await another time whilst we see what happens with the laser once more.
I still drive, work part time, look after a young member of my family full time as lives with us and also love painting, lol, so must reflect well on everything. It seems I am in a catch 22 situation though...sorry to waffle.
Glad Justinrose that all is looking brighter for you at last. Happy painting xx
that is great news! I have been following your journey and am so pleased for you.
hi, that’s such brilliant news and reassures us all who are anxiously awaiting surgery! Obviously been a worrying and stressful recovery for you but it makes me feel more positive now.
Enjoy your painting Justine and hope everything continues to go well for you.
So pleased for you. That is really great news! Sadly, my journey is not going so well. It's now 18 weeks since I had a Trabelectomy in my left eye. Although there has been a very slight improvement in my left eye since I stopped Atropine 4 weeks ago, they don't want to operate on my right eye (which is stable at the moment) while my left eye is still very blurry. Consultant may do a Preserflo shunt instead of a Trab. I've been given some new eye drops for my right eye, and consultant to review in 3 months, which seems a long time. Feeling quite despondent.
Thank you so much for your lovely reply. I have followed your journey with interest, as we had Trabs around the same time. I also copied your idea of having an eye chart! I know everyone's experience is different, and hopefully, in time I will get there! I just wish I didn't need to have surgery on my other eye as well. Anyway, I'm so pleased for you, and enjoy your painting!
That is great news Justinerose and gives hope to anyone on the same journey. I also suffered very low eye pressure (1) after needling in theatre 6 weeks ago (trab was done in January 2024). It rose to 2 and then 4 with Atropine, reduction of the initial post-op 2 hourly steroid drops and a gel injection. My vision improved and the pressure rose to 14. At my recent appointment, there was concern that it has risen too quickly due to healing. I am back on 2 hourly drops for 4 weeks to slow down the healing. It can be very unpredictable and you just have to remain positive and follow the guidance of your eye doctor. Enjoy your painting and I am also looking forward to a good outcome. I have been told that I will require shunt surgery in the future (I have that in my left eye) but the aim is to delay it for as long as possible if vision is not deteriorating.
All the best and take care.
