5 th post up check up

I had my 5 th post op check up today. Two weeks ago the remaining releasable stitches were taken out and then it was needled because the pressure wouldn’t go down, this week it had to be needled again so I have extra drops to take again. The doctor has said that at my next appointment in two weeks he will see if I need it to be needled again and the next time if needed will be done in theatre. He said it will take about six minutes in the theatre . I’m just hoping that I will not need it to be done again

I've had a few needlings in theatre. One was a breeze and the other was a little more intense (same surgeon). They were both effective. I think the surgeon is able to work better in theatre than at the slit lamp so the chances of a good result are improved.

I asked the doctor if they can do it in the clinic every time but he said if we’ve done it two or three times and the pressures keep going up then the next step is to do it in theatre. What I don’t understand is that surely the healing process is the same however the needling is done. If my operation site wants to heal up wouldn’t it do it however they reopen it.

At my one needling in theatre, I also received an injection of an anti-metabolite to minimise any potential scarring. I'm assuming that this isn't something that would take place in clinic.

At the clinic needling the doctor put the anti scarring medication the first time but I’m not sure if he did on Friday but I must admit having the second done hurt a bit bit more and I felt the procedure a bit more than the first time. I’ve got to go back on the 15 th so I will see what happens in two weeks

must be a bit concerning to need this treatment over and over. Hope you get a good result next time

That must be worrying. I hope it goes well.

thankyou for your nice comments I’m hoping for the best and try to positive. I must admit this second needling has given me more irritation and a bit more pain than the first time but that is only to be expected. I’m sure things will be fine in a while then hopefully I can get back to exercising again. It’s been six weeks and looks like it will be a little while longer till I can get back to the gym but my eyesight is more important 🤞🤞🤞
