CoQ10

My consultant recommended CoQ10 for my angle closure glaucoma. Is there any evidence that this could help? I have had Trabulectomy in one eye and the pressure in the other eye is currently being controlled by Cosopt and Monopost.

As usual, an internet search will reveal all. Like many vitamins etc. it is an essential ingredient to health that our bodies manufacture but decreasingly with age. To boost our dietary intake, there are a few plant sources but heart, liver general carniverous stuff - sorry, you vegans! As a supplement, view it like the niacin conundrum; will it help? what is the dosage? Did your consultant give specific instructions? No? You are on your own - except that the many suppliers will reassure you that their's is the best! I have taken Boots 00mg capsules (NB not suitable for vegetarians) for about five years. Has it helped? I don't know, I can't turn the clock back and do without, to compare ! More contributions please !

Thanks, no instructions from Consultant. Internet searches show that there is a possibility of liver damage in excess dosage. That was a bit worrying. What is excessive? Who knows? As you say, you are on your own.

Ubiquinol is the bioavailability form of CoQ10 and is better absorbed than CoQ10. I've been taking Ubiquinol due to also taking a low dose statin since 2016 with no ill effects.
