I had a detached retina last September 2023 with successful surgery. The fluid in my eye is still reabsorbing slowly, I’ve been told it is unusual to take this long. My original glasses are not suitable now but the consultant says do not get new ones yet. What can I do in the meantime.

Hello,
Because you are still recovering from surgery, it would make sense to leave your prescription at the moment. It isn't cheap as i'm sure you know, and this would be a reason your consultant has advised you not to change your prescription at the moment. Obviously, if you feel you cannot cope with the glasses you have at the moment and feel you need a new prescription sooner than later, there is nothing to stop you from speaking to your optometrist about this and see what they say. But keep in mind, if your prescription changes after your eye has settled, it will be double the expense for you.
