I had a stent inserted in my eye in early April to reduce the pressures. Unfortunately I am now being told that the eye has healed too quickly and there is no flow from the stent so I need to go in again for repeat surgery.
Has anyone been through a similar experience?

I had an istent too. The pressures went down initially to 15 but then suddenly went up to 27 which is why they want to operate again. Are you fully recovered?
My pressure has stayed around the same, initially went up and stayed up for over 2months, but consultant was happy enough to take me of pilocarpine drops, so now only on my other 2 glaucoma drops, this was 4months after surgery. My eye has become very dry and extremely sensitive to the sun. Are you going to have to have more I stents put in or are you going to have to have another op? How many did they put in last time? My consultant put in 3, but 1 was not in correct position.
I had one stent put in. He is planning to keep the stent where it is but do something to help the drainage although I am not quite sure what he is planning to do.
My husband had a gel stent which has not been effective. He has had multiple needlings and a surgical revision (2nd operation). It never got his pressure to target. He is continuing to lose sight despite being on two different types of drops. His appointments are always late and delayed. I think one of the biggest factors is whether you will get the regular monitoring needed post surgery at the correct intervals.
I do hope your repair goes well. It seems that the results of glaucoma surgery can be extremely varied! I have the opposite problem to you in that I had an aqueous shunt put in my right eye last December and the pressure in that eye has remained too low for 6 months now because here is a leak that will not heal despite 3 repair procedures so far. The problem is that my conjunctival tissue is very thin because of my high degree of myopia and damaged from years of aggressive glaucoma drops. I can’t fault the follow up treatment I have received at the Birmingham Eye Hospital - I have been seen every 2 weeks during this period and sometimes more often. They have been brilliant. I was told on Monday that if the leak is still there this coming Monday my consultant will try one final repair which involves drawing a small amount of blood from my arm and injecting it into the sight of the leak. If this doesn’t work he will remove the stent and do some laser treatment instead so I’m praying hard for a good outcome.
I can’t fault the treatment at Moorfields either. I had laser treatment 4 times before surgery. As you say the result ls from surgery can be extremely varied. Good luck with your treatment also.
