hi everyone, need advice on what dry eyedrops to use, currently on hydramed but doesn't seem to be cutting it at the moment.

Must be pf.

Also thinking of getting a warm eye mask to try but don't know what kind or where to buy it.

Thanks for your advice in advance.

Hello,

There are so many different dry eye drops out there to try. Most are preservative free and if they do contain a preservative it a very gentle form, similar to that used for contact lenses. Preservative free drops normally come in individual vials. You could ask your pharmacist for help in choosing one or speak to your consultant for other alternatives which they could prescribe for you.

Heated eye masks are available with a rechargable USB or ones you can warm up in the microwave.

Hello there, I have thyroid eye disease which causes dry eyes.I have been prescribed xialin gel for day and xialin ointment for night-time.They are preservative free and were prescribed by my opthamologist.I also use an eye mask which helps.I got mine from amazon, it is" the eye doctor essential" antibacterial dry eye compress , hot and cold.25 seconds in the microwave for hot .It also includes instructions how to do eyelid massage to release the softened oil from the glands after using the mask.I have found it helpful and don't regret buying it.Hope this helps.

hi . Use dry eye drops that do not have preservatives and definitly get the warm eye pad. Just a cheap one they are about £9 and go in the microwave. They are great and since using the regularly I have managed to control the dry eye much better and avoid needing steroids

I use celluvisc 2.5%. You can buy at the pharmacy and it was recommended by a friend who has NTG. I find it really effective. You can also get a 5% version but I find that too thick.

Hi my consultant prescribed Hylo Forte for day time and Xailin ointment for overnight. I think the more viscous the drop, the better so it doesn't as easily evaporate. I like the Hylo bottle as it's a pump action. Hold it between thumb and middle finger and you can direct a spray of it into the corner of your eye.

But if your meibomian glands get blocked you can be pumping drops in all day every day to no avail so a heated mask helps to melt the build up of dried oils which you then clean off. I currently use the Blephabag and I bought Eye Doctor wipes. It doesn't have a strap but some do.

Another vote here for Hylo Forte. This has 0.2% sodium hyaluronate and not much else. The ordinary Hylo has 0.1%. I buy the cheapest online as I've never been offered it on prescription.

One of the eye consultants has prescribed me Ilube to be used in conjunction with the HyCo range. It works well.
