Hi everybody I'm needing a bit of advice if possible. I've been on cosopt for a long time. My pressures in June were 26 and 23 so consultant added monoprost. I've been on this about 7 weeks.
I feel like I've got a continuous hangover and dizzy all the time. My dilemma is I'm going on holiday soon and don't want to feel this way. Actually would rather not go but have to.
I have phoned hospital and they said to stop monoprost and keep taking the cosopt if I can't put up with side effects, but I'm worried about my pressures rocketing.
What do I do? Carry on and feel rubbish or stop them.
Consultant away at moment but I see him on 9th Sept. By the way he is going to do trabs on both eyes. Any advice would be grateful. Thank you in advance.

Hi, the only thing I can think that may help with the side effects is for you to try pressing the corner of your eye for longer than you are doing at the moment,
If you were only taking the Monopost then this would be a concern but your eye pressure will still be controlled with the Cosopt. They have no concerns regarding stopping the eye drop until you are seen on 9th September when they will review your treatment. If they did, they would have asked you to persevere.
Thank you Trish. I'm just in a bit of a panic in case my pressures shoot up when I stop.Just need some reassurance it will be ok untill 9th Sept and I won't loose anymore sight.
As you know I'm very anxious about everything.
Do you know if it stays in your body for a while after stopping?
Sorry if that's a stupid question.
Thanks for your reply. I don't know what I would do without this site.
Hi Callie. The drop can stay in the system for up to 5 days in some cases. You should start to notice a difference in a few days after stopping the drop. Hopefully the side effects will go as this will show the monopost was definately the culprit.
I know it's difficult when it comes to your eyes but I would have to hope the hospital wouldn't give you advice that would be detrimental to your vision. A break away and time to hopefully relax probably is the best thing for you. You do deserve a lovely holiday x
Hi Callie77 we are all different and respond differently however I’ve tried Cospot twice over the years and both times felt really bad, last time it happened within a couple of weeks once off them I was well again. Like I said we are all different so it may be different for you. I’m on Monoprost, Tiopex and Brinzolamide (instead of cospot). Discuss it with the hospital and see what they say. I know over the twenty years I’ve put up with so many side effects thinking that was just what I had to do until one day I actually said how I felt and now have no hesitation. Hope you feel better before you go on holiday x
