So sorry to hear about your daughter's condition. I think there maybe a support group specifically for people looking after babies and children with glaucoma. Perhaps glaucoma UK can help you with contacting them. There have been so many advances in glaucoma treatment in recent years and it is great that your daughter's glaucoma was picked up so early and that she is being treated to prevent vision loss. I remember watching a video on YouTube about a young woman in America who had been diagnosed at birth. She is in her 30s now and has no vision loss. I wish you and your daughter all the best.
Hi there,
I was diagnosed at 5 months of age & underwent immediate surgery to save my sight. It was successful for my right eye but the optic nerve was too damaged in the left eye. However, I have led a completely normal life with sight in one eye, including driving after passing a field of vision test. My surgery was nearly 68 years ago, so with medical advances & an earlier diagnosis I would be very hopeful of your daughter’s future prospects. Good luck!
I am so very sorry. I’m glad you found this community. You will receive good advice, hope and encouragement. Please keep us informed of your daughter’s journey.
Hello,
National Blind Children Society offer help and support for parents with children who have vision problems. Don't let the name of the organisation put you off. They are very helpful and supportive with tons of advice. They have recently joined force with Guide Dogs. Another is Victa .
