My son had a trab and implant in his left eye 3 weeks ago and is now waiting for the same on his right. He is experiencing blurry vision in both eyes when he wakes up however, over the last day or so, the blurriness isn't clearing in the right eye to the extent that he can't see well enough to read. He is using 3 lots of drops in the right eye and on acetazolamide tablets 3 times a day. He isn't due to be seen until his next op on the 19th January and we're really not sure whether this blurriness is common or whether he needs to have his pressures checked ASAP.Has anyone else experienced this?

Constant blurriness
I’m not sure if this is normal, but if it was me I would phone the consultants secretary and ask him to contact you or pass a message back about what to do or whether it’s ok. Otherwise you are going to be worried all over Christmas.
Thanks Cornwalleyes. He had an emergency appointment and his pressure on the unoperated eye was 30 however the consultant was confused by the decrease in his vision as it isn't the pattern he'd expect to see. All he could do was increase one of his drops (he's already on 3 lots of drops and acetazolamide 3 times daily). His next op is 19th Jan and this can't be brought forward due to lack of anaesthetists and the drug they use. We just have to wait and hope.
Hi Dodie. I feel for you, the trab recovery itself is difficult but to have to worry about this as well, my best wishes go out to you both. I had trab in my left eye 3 and a half weeks ago in my left eye and the vision is also still very blurry in that eye, I have read that it can take a couple of months to recover, however my pupil is constantly dilated for some reason. In your son's case if he's on those tablets then there's a good chance his left eye is blurry due to low pressure, because these and the trab the eye will have difficulty building up pressure. As for the right eye you should really contact them asap and if possible get an emergency appointment because there's a good chance this is due to high pressure, especially if he is experiencing discomfort in the eye, also because he is still in the post opp stage for the other eye, it should be easy to get him in for an appointment.
yes it is normal
Hello. It is normal to have blurred vision for some time following a trab but the fact that he is experiencing blurred vision in his right eye also, means he should be checked. I would advise that he goes to his local A&E department to get his pressure and eyes looked at.
