Hi everyone, my husband just had a preserflo surgery on his right eye. It's his 5th day post op but he is complaining that he can't see at all, it's so blurry. On the follow op appointment, his doctor said IOP has gone down to 13 from 20 and the surgery was a success.
I want to ask when is his vision going to heal? I know it won't be a perfect 20-20 vision, is the blurriness going away in a week or 2 weeks time?
thank you.

Has your husband's eye blurryness improved since the op?
When I had both my Preserflo's the blurryness and distortion gradually improved a bit every day. My surgeon told me to expect slow improvement before two weeks. He also saw me regularly post op.
As everyone is different, if your husband is worried then perhaps he could ask his surgeon or someone in the eye department . In the UK we usualy phone the surgeon's secretary and ask her to pass the message on. Following surgery I also had a 24 hour phone number if I had worrying symptoms. This I used and the staff were so helpful and put my mind at rest.
Post op, he could see some light but then the day after he said it was worse, very blurry that he couldn't make out the shape. When watching TV, his good eye gets tired and he gets headaches.
His next appointment with his doctor is next week Friday.
I've read some articles that say to expect recovery 5 weeks. 😲 I do hope 2 weeks improvement which is what we are expecting.
I had two vision problems in the days following my two preserflo ops:
One was that the eyes went short-sighted instead of their normal long-sightedness. This didn't affect clarity though, only the range at which I could focus. They gradually changed back to long-sighted over many weeks.
The other problem, which is closer to what your husband is experiencing, was occasional bleeds into the front of the eye. These would cause fogginess, occasionally like a real pea-souper, but after the first couple of days I only got them when I did light exercise such as a short walk and they cleared after 30 minutes of rest. They stopped after a couple of weeks. During this time I could see a slight build-up of blood in the bottom of the front of the eye where it settled (a hyphema). This cleared over several weeks.
As everyone's experience is different I suggest your husband talks with his hospital. Mine has a phone number for acute eye issues and I called them whenever I had concerns. They always looked at me promptly and either reassured me or changed my treatment as necessary. We always hope for a smooth journey but in reality there can be bumps along the way. I suggest he talks with his medics, it's better than worrying at home.
It could be hyphema as well.My husband described his symptom as:
Whenever he sits up, he sees a black thing covering his eye and when he lies down, the black thing goes away but his vision is still blurry as if he is looking through a frosty glass/window.
He called the clinic and they informed him that it is normal to have blurriness for a few days or even weeks. His doctor did say it will take a week or 2 for the blurriness to heal. But of course, my husband is very impatient. He thought he'll be able to see in a day or two. 😄
My hyphema behaved the other way. It settled at the bottom of the eye when upright but floated into the front of the cornea when looking down, such as when preparing food or doing the washing up, when it was like a thick fog coming up up from below. The frosty glass description though does sound like when I had bleeds into the front of the eye from the tube insertion, which my hospital wasn't worried about, and it eventually stopped bleeding and cleared away.
That depends upon how you define “heal”. It’s a process of gradual improvement. It takes months for the bleb to finish healing and settle down and the medication continues for 3-4 months, with regular check-ups still ongoing. One eye had complications which added another six weeks or so to the post-op recovery. My vision is still fluctuating in one eye, having just had its third post-op prescription for glasses since March. Your husband’s experience will probably differ because each eye is unique.
Blurred vision is common after preserflo surgery and it usually lasts 1-2 weeks after the surgery, however it can last a little bit longer for some individuals.
Well, today is 3 weeks and 4 days. We went to see his doctor today and unfortunately, there's Scarring. So, needling was performed in the office in about 10 minutes. His doctor said it is nothing to worry about. Anyone encountered Scarring? How long does it take to heal and will scarring occur again? Is Scarring mean his preserflo surgery a failure?
