I had a microshunt inserted about 3 months ago and everything seemed fine but now I notice my eye is watering much more than usual and seems very “flat”.
I’m worried that maybe the shunt is leaking, as I know that can happen.
Has anyone else experienced a problem with leaking and what were the signs? My sight doesn’t seem to have been affected, there is no pain and the eye has always been kind of red, so there is no change there.
My next appointment isn’t for a while and I was wondering if I should try and get an earlier appointment.
Thanks.

You need to see someone to get this checked out. I have had problems with a leaking shunt but this always caused blurry vision for me as the pressure was too low. I also have a blocked tear duct which causes my right eye to water. This is not painful but a nuisance and an infection risk so I am having it unblocked surgically soon (I hope!) Bizarrely, dry eye can also make your eye water so it could be a number of things. Hope you get it sorted soon.
Hi. It is best to get it checked, especially as you have noticed a change. Give the eye secretary a call at the hospital and ask to be seen and the reason why. If there aren't any available appointments for today, there is always the eye casualty at A&E department where you can just turn up.
It may be that everything is fine but it is best to get it checked sooner rather than later.
