month of eye drops

Hi everyone, after discovering that I now have irreversible optical nerve damage etc etc and was given eye drops that's lasts a month when you open the bottle and in that time I've had no info on the condition of my eyes from the eye hospital and so I've gone one step ahead of getting another bottle of eye drops from my pharmacy otherwise when I do eventually see the eye doc they would say why didn't you continue with the eye drops considering I was only given one bottle so hopefully I will continue to do this until otherwise as my eye pressure in both eyes were quite high to start with, so with the continuation of the eye drops hopefully decrease the pressure in both eyes and if I did stop because I didn't have any eye drops left the pressure would probably go even higher, it was a shock to hear the eye doc say what condition my eyes are in....so I would have thought I might have had an update by now

From when you went to the hospital you should have received a, copy of the letter sent to your GP saying how long you need to use the drops for, if you haven't had a, copy contact GP to get a, copy

So sorry to hear you that news . You did right getting more eye drops , you can always discuss with your gp to get reassurance also you can call the eye clinic and chase you appointment directly. They do emergency clinics as well as regular appointment and that’s been helpful to me in the past . X

Thankyou for your reply

Our local eye hospital is running clinics at about one third capacity still and like you I developed damage having missed several follow ups after a change in eye drop prescription. Sadly these drops aren't working, laser has had no effect and like you I am waiting for cataract removal to see if that does the trick. Seriously thinking of paying to get them done quickly.

Hello Sennaman,

If you have been diagnosed with glaucoma which it sounds like you have, you're GP should have received information for a repeat prescription for the drops. It would be a good idea to give your GP a call to check if this is the case. If for any reason they havent you need to call the eye secretary at the hospital and tell them of the situation so that one can be arranged.
