Welcome to the group Decorator123 mone names Julie. I’m 53 and was diagnosed in December last year with open angle so it’s still very new and scary to me. The people on here are absolutely lovely and I’ve made some good online friends. I have open angle glaucoma which do you have? I actually have an appointment today and I’m very nervous but that’s natural. Are you on drops I’m on Fixapost once in the morning. Feel free to chat anytime. Like I say lovely people on here. I look forward to hearing back from you.

Hi I had a an appointment today pressures were 25 and 30 so I’m having laser they done the puff test for pressure sometimes reads higher because I have thick corneas. My visual field was 100% in December and 100% today as well but laser has been offered instead of extra drops. How is everything with you now

Hi there and welcome. I am new here also although I’ve had the condition for eight years. I have closed angle glaucoma but recently my pressures have increased causing me worry. Some really lovely people on here with lots of knowledge and experience.

Hi Karen. Welcome to you too. I read with interest that you and Julie are taking Fixapost and would love to hear how you get on with it. I have been on the same drops for many years and think I need a change, as my eyes have got used to them and I recently had to have a trab to give better pressure control. Good luck to you both and keep in touch. Xx

Hi Redshoes, thank you. I’ve just been on the Fixapost for over a week. I was due back on 20 July but my usual consultant got in touch yesterday and is going to check on me next week as she heard things had gotten unstable. Like yourself I have been on the same drops for many years so perhaps I needed a change too. I am really hoping the pressure has come down somewhat. I hope you have better pressure control now. One positive is that these drops are preservative free (I was on Timolol) so the eye dryness has eased considerably. I will update next week after my hospital visit. Best wishes to you xo

Thanks Karen and good luck with your appointment. One of my drops is preservative free but I’m not sure the other one is so so feel it’s time for a review! I’m glad your appointment has been brought forward and that they are keeping a check on you.

Hi and welcome. I was diagnosed a couple of years ago with closed angle glaucoma. I’ve had 2 lots of lasers done in both eyes. Pressures are ok at the moment. I found it all pretty scary. There is great support and friendly advice on here 😊

Welcome to our little group, you say you've just been diagnosed, so I expect you're already on drops, are you getting on OK with them.

If you click on my avatar you'll find my glaucoma history, but briefly I was born with it, 4th generation, and it's never stopped me living a full and active life, so as long as you keep using your drops as instructed and attending hospital appts it shouldn't interfere too much with your life

Thanks yes it is nervous more about worst case scenario and how I wish sorting my finances out whenever younger if nothing else going to get me a bit more focus on sorting financial matters out

in reply toDecorator123

I think initially we are all obsessed with the worst case scenario and it takes time to process it all and work our way through. Planning ahead financially is definitely a good idea . When younger we never do expect this sort of tomorrow to arrive.
