Saturday Salutations Fellow FND Warriors!

The following is what helps me cope with my life as an FND Warrior. I struggle a lot! My purpose is to try to reframe or turn around negativity into something a little more positive.

Grumpy/Frustrated/Agitated —> Listen to an upbeat or fun novel on my audiobook. Sit outside if I can, even in cold weather.

Clumsy/Difficulty Walking/Neuropathy —> Slow stretching exercises while sitting or lying down; Progressive Muscle Relaxation.

Neuropathic pain; Migraine pain; Shooting pain; Muscle cramping pain —> Deep Breathing exercises; Calming music, often just bird calls; waves sounds; soft wind chimes, or gentle instrumental music.

Feeling down or low; Negative self-talk; Suicidal or self-harm thoughts —> Pray, Communicate with the outside world; calling a friend, contacting a hot line, chatting with a neighbor, driving (if able) to somewhere with people; my local senior center, or store attempting to develop a social life.

Comparing the Old Me to the New Me in sadness, loss, grief, anger at what I can’t do —> Consider and promote what I can do; how I have developed new ways to adjust, modify, and adapt to the new me; offer myself grace.

My “New Me” Mantra: I am doing my best, and my best is good enough!

These are just a few examples that work for me. I imagine others have tips that work for them.

I wish all a good day.
