An interesting Guardian article by Ms Nord relating to the mind-body connection was posted here a couple of months ago.

There is now an opportunity to listen to an interview between her and Dr Chatterjee, billed as the rewiring of the brain. See link below...but no mention of FND or even rewiring. From 1.50 there is some discussion of interoception and TMS.

Thanks I watched the last half hour or so. I think interoception (body awareness) is so key in FND and so are regular "check ins" throughout the day. If you stop and ask yourself regularly throughout the day "how am I feeling," this helps because you can then work out whether you are in a neutral/over alert/under alert state and whether the activity you have been doing correlates with this. For example your body could be over alert because you are feeling anxious/or excited, heart racing/faster breathing etc or you could be in an under alert state, bored/tired etc, loss of interest/low energy.

The extremes on opposite ends are seizures/shutdown and winding down to get to sleep/sleep.

Our nervous system is constantly going between the para and sympathetic states.

My body lets me know straight away when it's in sympathetic mode .. on comes the stuttering, gutteral noises, and maybe shaking . but oddly they can also be induced by massage or stretching even in a safe environment. ..such an unpredictable condition.

Yes, another person mentioned that their seizures could happen in the under alert state, so almost from the bottom of the ladder to the top.
