Wright gain
Hi Littlecook, I have put the weight on with my meds. But that is for Graves’ disease. I now eat between 8 am and 8 pm and have managed to lose 19lbs. However I am thinking of trying to eat more fish and greens. I totally understand how you feel as I was only ever 9 stone I’m just under 12 stone now. But I take about 23 different meds per day for everything. Other people will say eat small and often. Mediterranean diet is also good. Try and be mindful take your time eating and enjoy your food, try and cut out anything that’s not good for you. I wish you the best try and have a peaceful day if you can. If you are tired no big deal just do things when you are ready. Love yourself my friend, self love is so important. We are not useless stay strong and in time I hope things change for you little by little 🤗
Good afternoon Littlecook, I’m sorry you’re struggling with weight gain - it’s a tricky one to control for sure as one thing can affect another thing which in turn affects something else so I hear you! I put on a little weight when I first experienced FND as I felt I needed to stay home to keep myself safe so day to day exercise decreased. I also have issues with my hips, lower back and hyper mobility and need to keep myself strong to stay mobile - once this became affected by staying in I forced myself to do gentle exercise like yoga and light weights which in turn helped my weight. Outside of a little treat (I love sugar!) I do find when I eat less healthily my energy and mood take a hit which can then raise my FND challenges so I try to do my best with this too. We all have different issues which affect us all differently and I know it’s not always easy to stick to healthy eating and a bit of light exercise but I do find that even a little of this helps physically and mentally. I wish you well 🙂
Diabetes UK and Michael Moseley books offer a lot of advice on what to eat if you are diabetic. Your Gp surgery should be monitoring your blood, or maybe you can get a monitor yourself ..this would help you to see what foods are helping/hindering. If you really want a healthy personalised diet, thats controls your levels, sign up to ZOE ..unfortunately not cheap. Nevertheless ZOE offers numerous podcasts related to diet ..so google away, find out about your microbiome and decide what action you can take to benefit yourself. Remember, a lot of the body's neurotransmitters are 'manufactured' in your gut, and the bacteria down there are responsible for the strength of your immune system, so a healthy microbiome might well have good knock on effects for some of your other problems. Good luck, and good eating.
Good Morning Littlecook.
We have chatted before on this site
I have gained weight since FND developed 4 years ago. I attribute the gain to my fatigue, thus a sedentary lifestyle.
I take naps in the day and sleep long hours at night. I wear out easily and get dizzy. I have poor balance and fall way too much. I have exercise, and sit around too much. I used to be an active person.
The pounds added up over time. It is rather upsetting to me.
I wish the best for you. I hope you find a way to reverse those tight buttons.
