Let’s shout it out! Please use equipment in FND if you need it!

Although I have added it as replies to other members post, I think this is a must watch video from Re-Active:

m.youtube.com/watch?v=BW9IC...

It goes on to say:

You do NOT need to avoid equipment or support if you need it.

Not everyone needs it. And not everyone needs it all of the time. But clinicians, please throw that myth in the trash!

Devices, supports, equipment that can help someone be more independent in their daily life are HELPFUL.

And especially with co-morbid conditions that people might have like dysautonomia and hypermobility.

In my live today Chelsea and I shared our favorite devices or supports for people FND and it was a fashion show!

Hi,

Thanks for that. Even Prof Edwards used to advise against aids. I mean how are we supposed to get about? I'm sure he's changed his stance over the years.

I use:

Shopping trolly to push as I can't afford a wheeled walker. I can walk further that way ? a form of distraction technique.

A TENS machine for pain, spasms, and for trans auricular vagal nerve stimulation - fab-u-lous.

I use a massage wand for muscular problems with my back - it's a good job no one visits as they may think I'm using it for something else 😜

I have used an electric wheelchair in the past, grabbers, shower seat, perching stool (but the cat seems to think it's his for supervising me). I have aids to help me open jars and tins. So much stuff and no help to pay for it all.

Please keep spreading the word. If you can also see if we can get the covid vaccine too, that would be great. I climb the mountain and someone kicks me back down again. I feel like I've lost the ability to recover. If we need the flu vaccine, we should have the covid vaccine too.

Sorry a bit of a sore spot.

Hugs x

I use a walking stick and mobility scooter and three wheeler walker otherwise i would be housebound. Use whatever you need, fnd is difficult enough without denying yourself support!☺️ ps can often find 2nd hand walkers in charity shops. I got one for £10☺️
