FND, Diet and Gut

Well,

I am discovering a lot now about my condition. Just diagnosed earlier this year. I was having almost daily seizures for about 6 months.

For me the Gut plays a big role in regulating many body systems and keeping inflammation down which is key to keeping my brain working the best it can based on the tissue I have to work with. It seems to play a huge role. I do make changes and track things a bit to see if my hypothesis is true.

Because of birth issues, complex trauma and some sports injuries I am more prone to this type of illness, but I think controlling the foods I choose to eat makes a big impact on my bodies ability to heal tissue in my brain and get the nerves and tissues connecting well. I Try to stay clear from dairy, gluten, fermented products, alcohol and really lean into fruits and vegetables. Just started on Kumchacha so we will see how that goes.

Just thought I would share some discoveries.

Cheers!

🙂

Agreed, I think its ALL about the gut. Certainly everything neurological and gastrointestinal.

These days, I believe we're swinging too far into the 'plant based diets for fibre' and away from the need for substantial B vitamins that you get from meat.

Sure, eat a burger everyday and you may blow out your colon. But also, not eating enough meat can reduce B12 levels and cause untold damage to the gut and to neurological systems.

Balance is key!

Sleep, diet, exercise, stress (reduction) are the main principles to strong gut health. At least for me.

Eating a very diverse range of foods has helped me rebalance my state after hitting full body burnout with FND, B12, B1, copper and zinc deficiencies. I haven't drunk alcohol for two years and am getting back to what I was.

Thank you for the reply. Never been on forum before so this is certainly new medium for me.

I am a long distance open water swimmer so my workouts can be intense. I found I was missing meat now and then for iron etc. so I did start incorporating that into the diet besides fish and chicken.

Certainly surprising that doctors never pointing me in this direction except for recently a Naturalpath MD so I am very fortunate.

American Dr Perlmutter has a lot to say about the gastro/neuro connection in various books he has written.
