Nausea

My daughter has been struggling with fibro and FND for years. She is now 14 and symptoms just keeps getting more extreme. She is losing weight due to 24 hour a day nausea. Doctors are being VERY unhelpful. I make her ginger/fennel capsules and she has ondansetron(which we can only get 20 a month). Any feedback would be great.

I’m so sorry to hear about your daughters struggles, I have a daughter about the same age and it’s terrible that the doctors haven’t been helpful. Have you tried acupuncture? I worked for an acupuncturist and witnessed patients with vertigo & nausea have success with it. Other than that when I have nausea, I use the pressure points on my wrist and above my lips ( maybe google it) also sparkling water and oddly ibuprofen help me.

my son struggled with extreme nauseau for 2 years. He had an inflammed stomach and took omeprazole and towards the end had acupuncture. We always feel the acupuncture helped him recover. That and plenty of sleep. And he used to sleep at unsociable hours due to his nausea being the worst at night

I am sorry you are going through this. nausea could be an aura for migraine or seizures, or caused by rare things like median arcuate ligament syndrome. how do they know it’s FND? I am sorry but if you keep adding symptoms you need to find a different doctor until you find someone who will actually figure it out. It says you are in the US - I don’t know where in the US- a trip to Texas Childers hospital could be good. They have a very strong autoimmune department. Dr. Eyal Muscal, MD is awesome.

thank you. Thats interesting that you said that you said that because her recent blood work suggested she has has an autoimmune issue. Started her on hydroxychloroquine.

I am so glad that they are doing something. Having lived an FND misdiagnosis journey I know it can be very frustrating. I have a collection of autoimmune disorders that started with a stroke like episode out of the blue. If I didn’t advocate for myself I would have ended up disabled by now. A good neuro-immunologist and rheumatologist is important in surviving. I have Autoimmune Encephalitis as my primary disease that set off the rest of my issues. Not sure if your daughter has been tested for it- but it causes all kinds of symptoms throughout the body (nausea included). Please check out this website for more info autoimmune-encephalitis.org/

I hope things get better🤗🤗
