Hi everyone

I wish to thank everyone on this forum for sharing your stories and brutal honesty in what you go through.

I have just joined HealthUnlocked and am glad I did. For all of us, we had to deal with quite a bit of ups and downs(to say the least) and we triumph on to find better health. And sharing our resources are of great help. Has anyone perhaps read the book: The Body Keeps the Score by Dr. Bessel van der Kolk? I found this to be very helpful and I hope it will be meaningful to others as well.

Thanks again for having me.

Hi there are two books I would recommend if you are still in need of reassurance about FND.

Living with Physical Disability and Amputation Paperback, 1 Sept. 2009

by Keren Fisher (Author)

- Don't let the title put you off, this is a good general disabilities physical/mental and life strategy book.

Overcoming Functional Neurological Symptoms: A Five Areas Approach: 5 Paperback,26 Aug. 2011

Dr Chris Williams practitioner Professor of Psychosocial Psychiatry and Honorary Consultant Psychiatrist

Catriona Kent, Nurse Consultant

Dr Sharon Smith

Dr Alan Carson

Professor Michael Sharpe, Psychological Medicine Research

Dr Jonathan Cavanagh

- this FND manual is a bit irritating in chapters by basically saying change your mental attitude and you will cure FND (it is not that simple), but it does have a good grounding in goal setting and worksheets to help identify triggers etc.

Basically read these two books and you have near enough done the whole Neuro Rehab necessary to manage FND on the mental/emotional side with goals to help the physical side too.
