I have had this for over 30 years but its been getting progressively better over the last 10 years. It is sciatica which can be in my left or right side but originally left with the pain radiating down my right leg causing me mobility problems. I have only obtained this diagnosis in the last 15 years after my GP was fed up with my constant attendance at hospitals and seeing various consultants that she demanded a diagnosis. It is called 'atypical' as it causes my right leg or both legs to lose power rendering me unable to walk. I have crutches just in case it returns.
