Hi Everyone
Anybody suffer from what I can only describe as heavy, almost solid Legs at Rest?
They are ok when I'm walking although don't always feel connected to my Body!!
Is this a common FND Symptom?
Thanks
Stephen

Hey there!
I do like your description prob better then the way's I have explained to my P/T & Doctor once, my description was I feel like a mermaid and I move with the top part of my body when I am laying down on the floor because my bottom half just feels...I dunno dead like I can move it but it doesn't want to move, just a heavy (as you described it) feeling. I do get this feeling many times a day however when sitting , mostly when laying down.
Is this a common FND? ,This is something I did not experience in the past until about 1yr into my FND symptoms but its very real
Hi Steven, i get that feeling down my left side i mean you could literally cut me down the middle and my left side of my body feels like heavy an uncomfortable.
Good morning,
Yes, I remember vividly experiencing this. My heart feels for you.
Have you been seen by a Lyme Literate Practioner to rule out Vector/Tick Borne Diseases?
I would highly encourage to research this more as they are complex illnesses that are sadly missed by many in the mainstream medical at this time, may this change.
Hi Stephen -
Yes, I have experienced a heaviness in my entire body including legs while at rest..this was a part of the ‘episodes’ as outlined below...
Last week I was diagnosed with FND after 2 ‘episodes’ within 2 months where I experienced the following symptoms resulting in 2 hospital stays:
-Initial dizziness which resolves quickly
-Initial blurred vision which resolves quickly
-Initial repetitive uncontrolled movements of fingers, hands or feet only on the left side of the body
-Inability to speak which resolves to speech fluency issues including stuttering and sometimes strange accents. Ultimately, resolving to normal speech patterns after a number of days.
-Heaviness in my whole body causing inability to move which resolves to weakness and numbness in face, neck, left leg & left arm. Ultimately resolves after many days to normal functioning of limbs.
Not sure if the leg heaviness is normal part of FND as doctors say everyone’s symptoms are different but I have experienced it. During both of my episodes with body heaviness I was sitting and at rest.
Have you experienced any of my symptoms above?
Thanks!
M-
Hi Stephen,
Yes, it was two different neurologists at different hospitals. Still not sure I believe them...one has ordered some other tests so we will see.
Prior to both episodes, I had balance issues and fatigue. Before the second episode, my balance issues were very well documented by my physical therapist who was so concerned she called my physiatrist (physical medicine & rehabilitation doctor).
When you get the heavy body feeling, can you move? I felt like I was truly frozen...even my hands were clasped together but they got ‘stuck’ in the air and I could not make them move to my lap. Also, in the hospital I grabbed a bed rail With my left hand to reposition myself while waiting for a nurse...it took 15 minutes for someone to come...and for 10 of those minutes I couldn’t get my left hand to release from the bed rail. The nurse had to physical ‘unwrap’ it for me...
Hi M
Yes my Movement is ok and I can walk although my Legs don't feel like they belong to me!!
I've had Two MRIs...one of the Brain and the other of the Cervical Spine. Both came back normal. My Neurologist then diagnosed FND.
My GP has referred me to a Psychiatrist who specialises in Neuro Science for a Second Opinion.
I tend to worry a lot and end up fueling Hours of Cybochondria.....it's awful.
Doing this, you almost invent your Symptoms in your Mind but I keep doing it and end up frightening myself.
I am also seeing a Psychologist too.
Best Wishes
Stephen
