During an earlier conversation Brokeendeer came up with the most wonderful idea.
"There should definitely be an FND Patch Badge scheme (similar to the Scouts/Guides) where you gain a skill. Like accidentally throwing a bottle of water across the room and for not getting angry or crying, gain an FND Patch for Aeronautics? Or managing to avoid falling down when circumstances seemed inevitable, gain an FND Patch for Gravity Studies? The possibilities are endless!"
Isn't that great? Everybody can do something. Everybody can achieve success if we just learn to redefine our success to fit the environment and the situation. We're not fitting into any other box so why do we need to fit into the standard success box? I believe that we have to support each other because the medical world, the world at large is a big scary place and they don't understand us.
So I'm going to ask everyone to tell us what badge did you earn today?
I have been successful in my battle with gravity. Haven't fallen yet, so there is my gravity badge.
I also get the critter Mama badge for getting all the animals fed before I get coffee.
Plus the caffeine badge for effectively utilizing the coffee maker and not pouring hot liquid on my hand or the floor. Oh so that's the mop badge too isn't it? Yes, I'm on a roll!
What badge will you earn today?
Blessings to all.

Good for you Tabby. Persistence badge, my family just calls it stubborn but it's a badge! What about humor badge? you are smiling right? Keep going honey.
Hi, just taken me a day (in stages) to clean my tiny Wetroom - so your `Cleaner Badge' is a great choice! Plus you cleaning up after the dog and tidying means you really deserve it!
Hi liking the types of badges suggested so far, does the `Never Give Up Fight Badge' fall into the group; What is stitched on the Fight Badge - stays on the Fight Badge, lol?
Because you managed to make coffee twice safely - I'm also awarding you the `Barista Badge'.
Actually, yesterday I managed to remember the upcoming program details advertised on the TV, placed them on my phone diary to remind me to set the recorder, then actually remembered to set the recorder for that program in time - so awarding myself the `Media Badge' (possibly even a Gold Media Badge grade?).
Hi have spent some time over the past weeks rearranging my living area furniture to create a little zone to help relax and de-stress, as a particularly FND Challenging time during Lockdown.
Cannot decide if it would be a `Home Makeover' Badge or `Panic Room' Badge- honestly could be both!
I thought maybe just the one `Home Makeover' Badge as then it would leave room for other badges on my virtual jacket. But hey, why not plump for a full trench coat size instead, I'll add `Hygge Happiness' Badge to my collection!
Oh Bailey, I am quite familiar with the Wonder Woman/Superman badge....and the next few days of pennance or we could say that it's a reflection badge. Where we are mindful of our behaviors and achievements.
Maybe?
Why not?
I am currently working on the Purge badge. I have stripped everything out of the bathroom cabinet and I am checking dates and marrying boxes.
Blessings to all. Remember to celebrate your success.
Today I earned a badge of sociability or Turtle badge. I've not had much contact with my friends since I left work in September. And really none since this whole thing went horrifically sideways in January.
I invited a friend over for coffee. Simple right? It was very scary to know that I was going to twitch and screw up my words and probably drop stuff in front of her. And I did. I told her she was my test. Yes, I was terrified. I didn't want to look stupid or pathetic....I have to say though, I did pretty good. I felt pretty good about it. I stuck my head out of the shell.
Good for you to go that extra mile in social contact! It is scary, embarrassing and exhausting! But what I always do is remember we are all human and all imperfect, even non-FND people screw up their words, fall over, forget what they are saying or drop things! In the early days I would get angry or cry at my pathetic abilities especially my visually obvious and disturbing walking styles, social incidents and now 12 years on, I just casually say "oh well" or "oops" and laugh! Usually makes the other person smile rather than feel bad for you?
Back to the badges though; there is one phrase that comes up time and time again regarding FND and that is the Boom-Bust Cycle which means, you do too much and then fall apart afterwards with a long recovery period. That is why all the Therapies teach Pacing Yourself as the key to success in everyday life.
So... `Boom-Bust' Badge for me - as did too much and paid the price this week!
I'm wondering if we can make this an actual thing, like the 'beads of courage'. I got sick when I was 14 and it would've been amazing to have a visual aid in tracking the progress of my recovery/journey.
I know I'm a little late on this one, but my sister does all the useful stuff (she's my live in carer) and I do the fetching. I get a fetching badge. Sometimes I even preemptively fetch (get her something before she asks) so that has to be a level up. Yesterday we discovered there's also reverse fetching, otherwise known as putting away. I'm a champion fetcher basically.
