I seem not to understand IBS and constipation! I am sorry to all about this too. Thanks

l take a fiber supplement every morning. It did seem to help things move along in the morning.

At least l thought it did. I am beginning to wonder about the supplement. Things did not move from yesterday this morning. I had a little of bake chicken and then l had about 5 cheese sticks. and little of red grapes. l know that is little but should it not move? l also have heard cheese can be constipating. That is all l need! I did have my fiber cereal this morning to help maybe move things later today or tomorrow and because l love fiber cereal . Hopefully this will help me out a lot. Use to eat it because l liked it so. But somehow l stopped. l am 68 years old and l know your digestion does not work like it did when l was younger. I do have IBS and add constipation to it that and it becomes a mess. For me anyway.

  • @Annie2222 are you drinking enough water? My sister takes a spoon of flax seed everyday.. I can't tell you how often you should go everyone is different. I don't go everyday, it maybe a week before I go, then it maybe everyday. Don't stress

    I AM THE TYPE WHO DOES NOT LIKE WATER. BUT I HAVE LEARNED THE WATER IS NECESSARY TOO! AND RJONESLAW I DO STRESS OUT SO MUCH BECAUSE OF THE WORRY WILL I HAVE A BOWEL MOVEMENT OR NOT. ALWAYS AFRAID OF A BLOCKAGE. IF POOP SETS THERE TO LONG. STRESSED OUT A LOT OF THE TIME. MY MOM TELLS ME STOP TO WORRYING ABOUT IT! MOVING YOUR BOWELS WILL COME. JUST GIVE IT TIME!!

  • Hi I have chronic IBS and it has been worse since this fnd flared up. Medication such as cocodamol makes it worse. I have even boiled dates and prunes together puried them and drank the mix on an empty stomach and still did not work , my doctor couldn't believe it either . I find after five days I feel so awful , still searching for something that will bring back regularity !

    I have IBS as well with this, but I bounce back and forth between both kinds. Not fun, I feel for you. Have you tried different types of over the counter stool softeners? Some seem to work better than others for IBS I find. If your using a powder, try some pills in addition to what your using... Uhg, just what you want is another one, but of it helps. Or vise versa.

    Oh and for the bloating, I am not sure if you are able to obtain essential oils or not where you are, but I have found that adding peppermint oil, and digestzen (only a drop or two of each, a little goes a long way) on your abdomen/stomach area, helps sooo much. It has been a life saver to me some days! (just make sure to wash your hands really good afterwards because the peppermint is horrible when it gets too close to the eyes!)

    With your water, for heavens sake flavor it. That's what I do a lot. I have to be in the mood sometimes for just plain water, but a little flavoring, or some lemon is always good. Water is very important though, or at least something else to drink preferably good for you. I have to be conscious of kidney stones to boot, so getting enough fluid with both is important.

  • I appreciate your reply so very much! The doctors say everything is fine since l had the test. When l eat sometimes Cheryl always afriad l will not be able to pass it. l am going to have my salad for lunch. They are so delicious and good for you too. my gastrogist says l always have toast with preserves on it. Supposed to eat off and on all day. very hard for me. I do appreciate all the help l have recieved here. l do try but l guess my gastrogist has had it with me not eating. They always asked me when l have a question for him, Have you eaten anything?

  • If what you wrote down is all you have duri,g the day.. Yikes, I can see why my dear. You too need to eat more and stress about it less. The stress is not helping that is for sure. Wish you lots of luck. Oh the oils I talked about are doterra oils. Forgot that earlier.

  • Doterra can be purchased online, I am fortunate to have their headquarters close by, but I do know that they ship. Mind you, they are not cheap, but it only takes a drop or two to help. Look at Doterra.com. with checking out. They are natural oils, and most of them can be used externally AND internally which is nice. Hope this helps.

    I too have IBS and any stress always make it worse!

    However I have found a simple but effect 'medicine' that really helps!

    I read a book about IBS and it suggested taking a 'fennel tea' (Fennel teabags are available) after every meal...

    I wasn't sure but gave it a try any way, what did I have to loose.......

    I tried it and after a week I was feeling much less bloated and after 3 weeks I no longer needed to take my prescribed Gaviscon on a regular basis. I was going to the loo more regularly but the lack of bloating and the effects it causes, really helped me worry less about the symptoms.

    Twinnings also make a 'Digest teabag' (which has fennel in it)which is also very good.

    A simple but effective change that has really helped me and which I hope also can help you.

    use to not have a bowel for 2 to 3 days. Never worried about it. What happened??

    Ate what l wanted... never worried. Maybe l am a little older??
