Evening,

Anyone else out there experience constant knots throughout body that need to be massaged out to be able to move? I find I get them around eveywhere now. Especially, knees, arms and torso.

Not sure if it's due to the annormal gait more or muscle weakness.

Nice to meet you too! Yes, it does help knowing others are out there. I had a particularly bad evening yesterday and even my massage therapist said my body was not happy with her. Muscles we're contracting in spots where she barely touched.

Funny but painful.

Hi,

Oh yes, I used to get knots on my knots. I found that magnesium supplement works best, though not instantly. Recently I stopped it as I had gastroenteritis for 2 weeks and thought that it may have been that I was taking too much. It was just a bug in the end though and I really, really felt the lack of magnesium. It's an interesting element and is one recommended on the FND Hope website. Helps with the stiffness too. You can also buy a magnesium oil to massage in. The oil is good if you get cramps and the chest pain.

Hope you find something that helps. xx

Mine were so bad I couldn't step off the edge of a footpath onto a street. I was constantly (like, all day long, every day), massaging the knots out of my arms, especially near my elbows.

Magnesium! Magnesium is now my best friend! My doctor kept telling me to take more, take more, but I was increasing my dose by 1 tablet a day. I think I was on closer to 6 to 8 for weeks before the knots suddenly disappeared. Now I take 4 to 8 big tablets (or equivalents) a day. I start with a tablet morning and night, plus a Voost Mg morning and night, then as soon as I get any muscle problems, seizures, cramps etc, I take two more, then more again if needed.

My doctor kept saying to increase the dose until you get diarrhoea, then back off a little bit. The diarrhoea is the body's way of telling you that you have enough. I found that the dissolvable powders and tablets (Voost Mg and others) are better absorbed than tablets. I listen to my body and take enough to feed the muscles (Magnesium is very basic, essential muscle food) but I back off if I feel any rumblings, or unusual movements in my abdomen.

I've heard of others here who have had similar experiences with Magnesium. You starve muscles of their food and they will misbehave every way possible. feed them and they cooperate with you again.
