I had a paralytic episode last night

I couldn't move or feel my left arm at all. It only lasted a few minutes. Is this something to be concerned about?

Hi

I have had paralysed either 1 leg or both legs or even both legs and arms, all you can do is relax and movement should come back, legs and arms max time at moment is 20mins but left arm paralysed has the longest time over 3 hours but eventually it comes back as well.

I have read about some people with FND where movement has not come back all I can say is keep positive and just relax when a episode happens. Cannot worry about something that might happen

Take care

Mark

Hi jesdue

Im sorry to hear of that frightening episode and i hope your ok now.

I myself have episodes more so at night when I completely lose sensation in my arms and my legs it's like total numbness but yet a very heavy feeling I'm not sure if that makes any sense but it almost feels as if I'm lying in bed in a suit of armour this can last from 5 mins too a couple of hours but it stays in the background for some time follwed by cramp.

hope this helps and i really do wish you well

Hi Jesdue, Yes, it is very familiar to me though not first hand but from my daughter. On one occasion she was completely paralysed for about five hours, taken to hospital, then slowly movement started coming back. But apart from that and maybe ine or two shorter attacks for which she was not hospitalysed, she experienced countless episodes of paralysis which usually started at night. She would wake up with no feeling in the midriff area, or a leg, an arm, both legs. I still don't know if it was FND because apparently it could also have been part of the migraine aura with which she was diagnosed a year or so later. All the best to you.
