Hi Annie!

So sorry to hear of your Mothers passing away and all our thoughts and prayers are with you at this sad time.

Have you tried pure orange juice?

I've heard syrup of figs is supposed to be quite effective.

If these don't work, then see your GP who may offer a drink to solve this.

Stick to fruit but not Bananas because I've heard they can bound you up.

Eat wholegrains too and keep up with the water, preferably 1 to 2 litres a day because this will help you pass easy when the time comes.

Hope things go well.

Loving wishes always.

Tony & Kim xx😊😊

I will surely try it! And Thank you....

Annie2222.

My thoughts and prayers in your time of need. Your love for mom and hers for you continues through eternity.

My frequent constipation leads me to post back to you. The replies of others seem most helpful and may produce a restart of your system.

Four days without was also the point at which I took action. First, I focused on eating more fruits but as Tony and Kim pointed out no bananas. I have heard of success using lemon juice but not had personal experience. After four days, I started on mild laxative or softeners, not too much so as to avoid irritation. If no success, then went next day into glycerin suppositories which worked like charm.

Found out whole system works by contracting the waste thru the intestines with proper signaling along way. Once, I could restore process, goal became to stay regular and to go at first sign of urge.

Had to use high fiber solubles like metamucil which I believe contains psyllium husks. That helped. Now, I use daily hot oatmeal with about a tablespoon of chia seeds stirred in the mix. That has become real factor in regularity. Also eating high fiber beans but they produce the unwanted gas.

Drinking water and water retention in bowels is critical. The chia helped do that for me. I have so much chronic trouble if I do not stay on a plan that works.

At first, I had a tendency to panic when I went several days. Now, I just realize have to give it time and try to stimulate activity. Do not wait for stools to harden too much because risk impaction.

If it all fails, see the doc for help.

Wish you the best in a difficult time for you.

Hi Annie, I too am struggling to pass stools now, no reason for me other then a downward hit of symptoms a few weeks ago, for me I'm now trying to remember 2 spoons of lactulose I'm morning and 1 scennacotte in evening. If I forget which I do, I have dreadful pain in tummy plus look about 5 months pregnant. I hope this might help you, it has been a bit of trial and error as some bowel stuff made me really ill, like you I'm struggling to eat as get full up quickly but haven't eaten much at all, I drink lots of water now when I remember to. Good luck. 🤗🤗 Lisa

Thank you so much for your response.! When l do eat it is very little, but trying to do better. Thank you again!

Thankyou so much for your reply. One of my friends told me you need to eat and it will help to build a stool to pass...,,I am trying to do better with Gods help and all of you on here!

I am sorry to hear of your loss. Sending warm hugs.

Advice by others makes sense. I am going to try the lemon juice as I now have a chronic problem. I take dulcolax and sometimes need to take 2 , when all else fails. Rhubarb works quite well when in season but the tinned stuff doesn't work. Senna tablets are less harsh than Dulcolax but don't work as well.

Glycerine suppositories are more gentle- but don't swallow them Ha ha! They don't cause the really sore tummy medicines cause.

Meanwhile keep eating. Especially fruit and vegetables. Better get a magazine ready- you might be at the loo for a wee while!!

Hospitals never used to give medicine until 5 days passed, so you have time to get going.

Happy Hedgehog hunting,

Mel xx

Very sorry about the loss of your mum. It is a very hard time for you and it is completely normal for your bowel action to become a bit mixed up. I was a continence nurse specialist before I had to take early retirement, so I spent a lot of time talking poo! Firstly, you need to ensure that you are drinking plenty of fluids ( not the alcoholic sort! ), ideally you should be aiming for 1.5 - 2 l or 3-4 pints. try and keep active. As your stools are already very hard ,you need a stool softener. The water will help, but foods with plenty of fluid, jelly, ice lollies etc all help. if you want to stick with food,- liquorice- the soft australian kind can work well as can drinking prune juice. Glycerine suppositories help 'ease the passing' by lubrication but you should make sure that when you insert it, the suppository comes into direct contact with the wall of the rectum for them to work well. Try and stay away from senna, its a stimulant and can give you cramps. The best medication to take is Movicol, on prescription or you can get it over the counter. It is also known as idrolax. Its a sachet of powder that you mix with water. It doesn't go solid like fybogel!!! You start off with 1 or 2 sachets a day, and then regulate it yourself. If you still dont go increase by 1 sachet, if you start to get too loose ,decrease the dose. The best time of day to go is in the morning after breakfast & a hot drink, and when you sit on the toilet try and make sure your knees are higher than your hips- use some thick books or small stool to put your feet on. Sounds bonkers but it puts your body in the best position for a no. 2!!

I hope all that waffle helps, dont get too hung up about it, remember you're going through a stressful time and it will get better. Good luck-sending a hug x

Sorry for your loss. Was having trouble myself recently. Put fiber in a hot cup of cider, it worked really well. Good luck, no fun
