Advice for a medical letter.

Hi everyone!

I'm just in the process of writing a letter to my local housing medical department.

My GP will copy the letter from what I write because she says that I see my wife's symptoms on a daily basis which is true.

we are in a 2nd floor flat and my appeals - which have been 4 in total - from my MP, is that noise issues be it unintentional or not, are impacting on my wife's FND because she has become so sensitive to noise.

The housing are saying that a lower ground flat is appropriate but i have strongly disagreed and continue to do so because having occupants above walking or making noise will make her worse.

I want her in a Bungalow because it's more peaceful but they refuse because of her young age at 38 and you have to be over 55 but I've wrote a letter to the manager saying it's discrimination.

Anyway, they want another recent letter from my GP or healthcare professional stating how her present housing is affecting her condition despite previous letters going through.

Any thoughts or ideas as to how i can make my letter more improved because i don't know what more i can add that i haven't already told them or my GP hasn't?

I'm fighting this for my wife's sake because i want her quality of life to be better and i know that a Bungalow is the only way.

I'm also enclosing information on FND which explains how complex this disorder is and how it affects my wife and others.

Many thanks

Tony & Kim

You need to let them know what happens when she hears the noise. Does she have seizures? Does she black out? Be as detailed as possible and be specific as well.

Hi there!

Done all that before but the problem is that they don't come around to do the assessment anymore due to cut backs on resources so they only go on what I write and also medical letters.

It's not like seeing it first hand.

They say noises isn't something they can move you out on.

You can only report it.

I have it on my mobile if only they can come around and watch it but they won't.

Thanks for your reply.

My next suggestion would be to visit a legal aid clinic and ask them to help you from a legal point to help write your letter. They deal a lot with disability issues.

Sorry no advice to offer but just wanted to say keep on fighting. If I've learned anything these past few months it's that we must keep fighting. Best wishes
