Go with what the surgeon recommends, they will do what is best for you.Good luck,it will be very painful passing water after but it does pass.ALL THE BEST and keep positive

personally no, but it is personal choice, when I had my tumours removed from my bladder I said no to the chemo zap, despite nurse trying to scare me that I may have to have a course of ten... saw another consultant when I finally got results from biopsy and as I had decided when I first got told it was superficial and I was told that the it is a one in seven chance that the chemo helps and it all does it potentially stop regrowth not it spreading.. now that was enough for me to say thank you I knew I was right and what my body needed.  I also believe chemo is outdated and can kill people it doesn't just kill cancer cells, it's toxic... there other ways.  BUT like I said it is personal choice, you choose it's your body and your decision.

I agree with surreygirl74 chemo is toxic and not only kills cancer cells it harms other cells in the body but like she said it's a personal choice I'm waiting for BCG which is also toxic but is a booster for the immune system so as far as I know it's less harmful to the other body organs I wish you well with your treatment whichever you decide to have and hope all goes well for the future

I'd go with whatever my consultant advised as they know best

Had a tumor removed from my bladder on Mar 14. Pathology report came back a week later reporting "aggressive" stage 2.  Met with oncologist on Apr 1.  He recommended a regimen of chemo.  Had a CTScan, MRI, and chest power port installed to handle blood draws and chemo insertions.  Had 1st chemo day on Apr 14.  Doctor told me that the CTScan and MRI indicates that the cancer has not spread outside the bladder.  Really good news.  Plan is chemo (Cisplatin & Gemzar) one day a week for three weeks, one week off, then another 3-week cycle.  Take some pictures and go from there.  No bad results from 1st chemo day, feeling o.k.  I think I got myself a good doctor so I'm putting my fate in his hands.  If he thinks this is the way to go, I'm all in.  Good luck

In my case ,chemo is now only being used to clear a few 'warm' spots that showed up on my PET scan, chemo seems to be used in this way after the initial surgery to cut out the offending tumours. Not all chemo is a horror story, mine has been quite mild and they can tailor it to suit you.If it can prevent a reoccurance i say go for it. Good luck with the surgery.:)
