Researchers found that androgen receptor (AR) extrachromosomal DNA (EcDNA) is a key factor in treatment resistance for advanced prostate cancer. AR EcDNA leads to overexpression, disrupting traditional treatment responses, and presents new therapeutic targets for improved outcomes.

Extrachromosomal DNA (EcDNA) is DNA that exists outside the main chromosomal structure. It often forms circular loops, can carry genes, and plays a role in gene amplification and tumor progression.
