Ketogenic diet alters the epigenetic and immune landscape of prostate cancer to overcome resistance to immune checkpoint blockade therapy.

Overall, this strikes me as too hypothetical for us to apply, but what do I know?

"Overall, these findings illuminate a potential clinical path of using HDACi and optimized KD regimens to enhance ICB therapy for PCa."

HDACi = histone deacetylase inhibitor [To date, four HDAC inhibitors, Vorinostat, Romidepsin, Panobinostat, and Belinostat, have been approved by the United States Food and Drug Administration. Principally, these HDAC inhibitors are used for hematologic cancers in clinic with less severe side effects--NIH]

KD = ketogenic diet

ICB = immune checkpoint blockade

interesting. I did not know that BHB is an HDACi.

Also this being researched on cell lines and not in humans puts a little damper but still significant and easy to implement if you’re on immunotherapy

“or dietary supplementation of the ketone body β-hydroxybutyrate (BHB), which is an endogenous HDACi. ”

Here is the pubmed link which is easier to read and you can get the similar articles below the abstract.

I actually started a keto diet yesterday. Last time i did it was when i was doing my EBRT back in 2015 and went from 185 to 145 and was losing a pound a day so i had to stop after about 4 months.

Thos time i willl stop at 170lb.

I had a similar drop from 174 to 141 lbs in 2016 while on keto diet. Was undetectable after prostatectomy and aRT for PT3a case but due to the risk of recurrence was trying several 'anti cancer' actions including plenty of exercise diet etc. still undetectable 9 years after initial prostatectomy. No idea if Keto was a factor though.
