Coagulation markers as independent predictors of prostate cancer aggressiveness.

New study below [1].

Altered coagulation factors are an early event in PCa. Indeed, the first sign of PCa in some men may be a deep vein thrombosis [DVT.

The study authors wondered if there were coagulation factors associated with aggressive disease. Only fibrinogen & D-dimer were determined to be associated with high-risk disease.

Fibrinogen is the precursor of fibrin. It is harmless until converted to fibrin - the bulk of a clot.

As an acute-phase protein, it becomes elevated when there is inflammation.

D-dimer is a combination of two fragments formed when a fibrin clot is broken down by plasmin. Although a clot may be growing via the accumulation of fibrin, there will be signs of fibrin breakdown too. But the breakdown will be much slower.

Nattokinase is structurally similar to plasmin, but more potent. Human studies show that it can also lower fibrinogen levels.

An elevated D-dimer is a sign that nattokinase should be used imo. By eliminating micro-clots, it may prevent metastasis. And nattokinase can quickly remove big clots, such as DVTs.

Thanks Patrick! I know you have posted before about nattokinase but could you tell us which brand and how much you take?

I will get my d-dimer tested asap

Years ago I used only NSK-SD ™ nattokinase brands because they were affordable. These days I look for a good price because I take 12 caps daily. That's due to DES being an oral estrogen.

You can easily tell if a particular product doesn't work - it will not control D-dimer. (However, I have never had a product that didn't work.)

I recently switched to this brand:

amazon.com/Nattokinase-Card...

It is made from natto, just as the original Japanese NSK-SD is.

Most products are 100 mg & deliver 2,000 FUs (fibrinolytic units).

This one claims 4,000 FUs, but you have to take 2 caps for that. I guess they are trying to stand out in a crowded market. Most healthy men (no cancer) would need only 2,000 FUs. I doubt that 2,000 FUs would be enough for anyone here. The only way to discover the proper dose is to test D-dimer occasionally.

Best, -Patrick
