Big Pharma Is Literally Poisoning Us - TruthDig Opinion Piece - Jan 17, 2020

From the opinion piece article (Do the author the service of following the links):

"Big Pharma spends a small fortune every year buying politicians to make sure we can’t import prescription drugs from Canada, but they’re more than happy to sell us contaminated medications from countries with weak manufacturing controls and exploitable labor that ensure high profit margins.

A toxic compound that doesn’t belong anywhere near medicine known as NDMA was first discovered in some blood pressure medications in 2018, and the FDA issued an alert and wrote a complaint letter to the raw materials supplier to Big Pharma companies. It turns out the meds follow the very common pattern of being made in India with raw ingredients coming from China. And they are sold by big companies for obscenely high prices to U.S. consumers.

And now the world’s most widely prescribed drug of all, which is used to treat and prevent Type 2 diabetes called metformin, is contaminated with NDMA.

NDMA (N-Nitrosodimethylamine) is, according to the World Health Organization, produced by “the degradation of dimethylhydrazine (a component of rocket fuel) as well as from several other industrial processes. It is also a contaminant of certain pesticides.”

And it’s one of the world’s most potent carcinogens, at least for humans and other mammals. Our livers produce an enzyme that converts it to methyldiazonium that then leads to O6-methylguanine, both of which alter a process at the cellular level called methylation that is a cancer turbocharger." As in an earlier post, it seems safer for us cancer patients to be using the natural equivalent to metformin; i.e., berberine, than risk a possible contaminated big pharma product.

Thanks cujoe for the information and the links. I'm guessing that the Metformin that we have here is affected. Is that correct? Also the Zantac?

Ms. M, If it is a product from a US pharma company, maybe so, altho' recalls have been issued in some cases. I don't take any pharma products on a regular basis, but if I did I'd be doing some back-checking on the mfg and sourcing for each.

Well J - it puts you between a rock at and a hard place doesn't it! Do you continue taking them and accept the risk?

The Diabex 1000 (metformin) are labelled from alphapharm but the zantac from aspen. Both have noted an Ozzie distributor but no info about where manufactured. The metformin were prescribed as a preventative but it's been great as an appetite suppressant for Mr R. The zantac are optional so easily avoidable or substituted with Nexium.

Obviously what you have raised are those bigger, very important issues of control and profit making rather than rather than those affecting individuals and important and very important issues that are too. M

Those both sound like generic products to me. Do you have an FDA equivalent in AU? I would think they would be of some help in determining the safety of your meds? Maybe someone else here can provide more useful info? Good Luck & Be Well - K9

K9 Crusader,

You know how I feel about Big Pharma and Big Insurances as we are entering Day 5 of my fight to get Abiraterone before I run out of medicine... Thanks be to God that I started early, as well as the fact that you can take the lower dose with food and get equal/similar AUC efficacy pharmacologically... Not proven in a Phase 3 but when push comes to shove, then you do what you must...

To enter the Zantac lawsuit or not is the question and I lean towards doing it with the idea of quitting early and then doing volunteer work at a Free Clinic...

This really boils down to being too cheap and not shipping at a stable temperature ....Their greed is their undoing...All ...IMHO...

First, Big Insurance...we are talking Aetna and CVS Caremark...why does it take more than 5 days.??...and why a Specialty Pharmacy??--holding onto the money and then, cutting costs...Third reason, stress out the cancer patient and hasten his demise.!!.. In the meantime, The Science is Coming !!! and will let us all fight another day...

I started out with Aetna for Medicare Part D and used Walgreens as my pharmacy. Then CVS and Aetna merged and I had to move my pharmacy to CVS. As of Jan this year, Aetna/CVS sold their Part D Medicare Plan to WellCare and I don't know who my pharmacy is now? All this has taken place in the last two years. It's an old case of the lunatics are running the asylum - and we patient pawns are paying whatever price they decide to charge.

Meanwhile the entire American public has been distracted by supposed Russian interference in the 2016 election and now the impeachment trial. No matter what your political persuasion, it all looks a lot like Nero fiddling while Rome burns to me.

As is often said, the US has the best government that money can buy. Same can be said for our health care system, but if you need to use it, you better have lots of money - because you are sure going to need it.

Despite knowing this impeachment stuff is all a waste of time, it moves forward for the political actors and actresses...I would rather see the roads fixed, a move to legalize marijuana for the purpose of taxation and decriminalization, a balancing of the budget, and a few other issues addressed, especially regarding the healthcare system and saving social security...

I would say the whole government is fiddling... tiresome... all IMHO

Fish, why can’t you get abiraterone?

NPfisherman profile image
NPfisherman in reply to6357axbz

I can get it...when the Insurance company is done making me jump through hoops of fire...I went through this last year with Cigna....It is SOSDD with Insurance.... It will happen, but it is frustrating to call multiple times...Cigna and Aetna put this in the Specialty Pharmacy area and these drugs cost money so they are in no rush to distribute...they could care less about metoprolol which is $10 for 90 days at Walmart...

IMHO, they keep their money in their bank for as long as they can...

Hmmm, I had no problem getting it in April 2019 with Medicare and a BCBS Plan F supplemental policy. Hope I can get it again after my ADT vacation is over.

Medicare is different for sure....Congratulations on the "vacation"....may it last forever, or at least a long, long time....

Best of luck always...
