Hi everyone, I'm Richard from Milton Georgia. A month ago following a prostate biopsy I was diagnosed with prostate cancer and am in the midst of 34 radiation treatments. One internal (where they temporarily surgically implant the seeds in the prostate then take them out following treatment) and 33 external. My PSA before my biopsy was 5.2.

when i suggested 2nd opinion, what i was talking about was NOT the diagnosis but rather the planned course of action. right now there is no need to rush into treatment, this type of cancer is slow , so take your time in considering the most appropriate route to take

Agree, that's very aggressive treatment for a relatively low PSA. Did you get a Gleason score? From what you say, it isn't immediately obvious that you'd getting good advice. A second opinion is a good suggestion

In general you are right. However, sometimes you can not rely on low PSA as a guide to the state of the cancer. Mine was only 4.7 yet I had advanced Ductal prostate cancer Gleason (4+4), Stage 4D1 (now called 4A), T3N1. Could you share what your Gleason score was? (Please give it as (#+#) not just the some of the two numbers if possible.

That's right, It's accepted that PSA is not a reliable indicator in itself. A higher PSA doesn't necessarily mean there's a malignancy, a lower PSA doesn't necessarily indicate no malignancy. However as you probably already know, It's accepted that a PSA above 4.5 needs investigating. Also a PSA of over 10 indicates a higher probability. There are other factors that affect PSA levels. I had chronic prostatitis for years before being diagnosed with the cancer. It took months for the diagnosis because it had to be eliminated as a cause of raised PSA before proceeding to biopsy.

Apparently when my prostate was removed it was irregular and partially calcified.

Another indicator is the ratio of bound to unbound PSA and the levels of testosterone, bound and unbound.

Even the biopsy isn't infallible. I believe it just got better, I see in the news here, a new technique for biopsy using MRI to locate any likely tumour.

I was surprised at Richards aggressive treatment, since other than a slightly raised PSA, there was no indication for such radiation therapy. With no Gleason score or TNM staging it's difficult to judge, if I were in his shoes, would I choose such treatment.

Luckily, I was able to make a fairly informed choice about my treatment, but have to say, the lack of information and misinformation given me by medics in itself would not have enabled an informed choice. I wonder if Richard was fully informed, hence the suggestion about having a second opinion.

Minha sugestão é de forma afirmativa , faça uma verificação imediata de seu PH [ URINA E SALIVA ] . Se constatada Acidez , ou seja um nível abaixo de 6,5 , faça um tratamento muito simples tomando BICARBONATO DE SÓDIO E SUCO DE LIMÃO COM CASCA [ BATIDO ]. Eleve seu PH á 8 e o mantenha . Tome LUGOL 5 % [ DUAS GOTAS DIARIAMENTE ] . Mesmo com o tratamento que já se iniciou . É FUNDAMENTAL A VERIFICAÇÃO DE SEU PH IMEDIATAMENTE .

Todos que estão colocando as questões relativas aos procedimentos alcançados , com tratamentos e seus resultados , e pelo que vejo , na maioria das respostas e ou declarações , não vi , não percebi que outros recursos tenha sido adotados , como por exemplo : O CONTROLE DO PH DAS PESSOAS - Seja quando diagnosticado, seja durante o tratamento . Vejo que os Médicos não falam sobre isso ou recomendam qualquer coisa neste sentido . Gostaria de saber se alguém adotou este controle com o uso de : BICARBONATO DE SÓDIO- LIMÃO - VITAMINA D DO CORPO E OUTROS SUPLEMENTOS ALIMENTARES NATURAIS , E QUAIS FORAM . O CA TEM QUE TER UMA ORIGEM , E É ELA QUE TEM QUE SER COMBATIDA . Pela minha pesquisa hoje existem em termos de cirurgia , 3 : ABERTA- LAPAROSCOPICA E ROBO - Mas , todas elas retiram o EFEITO e não A CAUSA . Por esta razão as recidivas ocorrem - Outros tratamentos [ HIFU ] - TOOKAD VTP [ VACINA - ISRAEL ] - OZONIOTERAPIA - Pelo menos preservam a prostata , dentro dos limites em que são aplicados . Observando ,se se tem acesso a estes tratamentos nos países de cada um . Mas , uma coisa é fundamental , nos primeiros 30 dias do diagnostico , ou mesmo durante os tratamentos já decididos é preciso uma avaliação CORPORAL , a começar pelo PH e de como mante-lo num nível adequado . As minhas colocações visam apenas instigar outras possibilidades, se alguém já fez ou se preocupou com isso , se foram orientados a tais outros procedimentos pelos médicos . Enfim que resultados foram obtidos . A MEDICINA TEM TRATADO DA DOENÇA , NÃO DA SAÚDE . Em qualquer lugar deste planeta . A TODO EFEITO , TEM-SE UMA CAUSA . QUAL SERÁ ESTA CAUSA ????
