in May I had a small stroke and the same day a retinal detachment. I was released from hospital 3 days later directly to an eye surgeon to repair my eye. I developed rapidly growing cataracts as a resulting complication. Last month I had surgery to remove cataracts in both eyes and now am having almost daily tears in my other eye. Has anyone else taking jakafi or who has PV had this same or similar issue’s. I wonder because a friend told me some cancer drugs / gene therapy drugs can cause this complication. I’m still learning. I've not had any problems with jakafi. I have the normal age related slow growing cataracts which started before my pv diagnosis, so not connected to the drug.
I have been taking Jakafi for 6 years and no negatives other than a lower hemoglobin, so anemic. Has kept my spleen normal and cleared up my brain fog. Also, got rid of horrible itching but took 3 years.
Funny you mention this as my eyes have been affected. Had a macular hole which required surgery and now I need cataract surgery. My vision is awful. I have not been on Jakafi but wonder if just caused from my primary myelofibrosis
